Been waiting years for a full Jay E album but other than some clever lines Im not overly feeling this album, maybe because I expect so much from him and hold Jay E (and Jay Z) to a higher standard...

Some of the track names are better than the song, like when I saw 'Ghost of Soulja Slim' I quickly hit that play button but was underwhelmed...

Its a cool album not got crazy amounts of replay value... Like I still play 'Exhibit C' years later but I dont think this album will...



This track is real dope though...

 
Aww man. This is a rally cry disguised as an album. He set the stage with The Overwhelming Event.

Jay Electronica speaking to the "Valley of Dry Bones" on this. The dispersed of the Children of Israel. Listen to Fruit of The Spirit. And it aint by coincidence he was speaking Spanish on the track too.

Scripture for those that want to see the correlation. Ezekiel 37:

[1]The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

This is the age of awakening. The Most High is raising up the remnant of the dispersed to place his seal on and put in position for the new age. Resurrection from a state of sleep. Those 400 years are up!

And after that...the next song is "Ezekiel's Wheel"

Those "negro sprituals" weren't just songs...

There's a lot to unpack, so imma listen again and break some down. He tryna teach and reach on this. This aint just a rap album.

I understood the hype for JE 10/11/12/ years ago, when he stood out in a sea of mediocrity and trash.

But now there's Kendrick & TDE, Cole and Dreamville, Griselda.

And you hear him and it's ehh.

Nah he spits lines that are incredibly intelligent and full of wisdom and knowledge... He is an expensive Kendrick, Jay E is premium uncut raw to the K Dots of this world... Like an Immortal Tech with a mainstream more 'gangster' appeal... His voice and flow just hit your brain different...

But this album just felt lacklustre at times... I didnt like 'Watch The Throne' either and this feels similar...

Jay E spat some real great bars and gems and there are prolly lines that may take 3-4 listens to digest and pick up on but I just dont like some of the beats and flows on this album... Some of the of bars that he spat make up for some of the poor (imo) beats and flows at times but joints like 'Exhibit C' (a tune everyone knows) have everything, bars, flow, subject matter etc and thats what I expected...
