Bruh he was 10 more secs away from either ref stoppin it or getting dropped lol. You giving him just alil too much credit. He willed his way to a victory but no trap was set.

It’s not luck though

That’s stupid to say as harsh it sounds

We been following him, we watch him continue to take on challenges in front of him

He been “sloppy” since he came on the scene, he still producing

Dismissing such a great win like this as luck is bullshit

Johnny Nelson(British retired fighter) called that the hardest fight in the division and it was.

“Fury makes him look stupid” is disrespectful as fuck. Based on what? “If AJ had him hurt” like he had Klit with 2 mins left in round before Klit came back the next round and returned the favor.

Wilder waited for his moments during the fight and capitalized. Might not be pretty boxing but he putting niggas on they wallet and that was super impressive.

The risk in that strategy was thatt he

I rewatchrd the fight and I see what you saying. He definitely was trying to bait him to get comfortable in the right position to eat a right. He just wasn't doing well up until that 9th round.

And they both traded hard shots at the end of the 9th. Looking at it again I think Ortiz got the worst of thag exchange and didn't recover by the start of the 10th round. He wasn't moving as well and it contributed to bad footwork thay he otherwise was executing perfectly until then and got caught.

Bruh this heavy weight fighting... If not getting punched is part of your game plan then this ain't the sport....

he was willing to take a few to get his shots off... Mad fighters do the same shit.... Just not with guys who hit that hard... It took mad heart you right... But I'm sure that was his plan

Omar Figueroa Pulls Out of April 21 Fight Against Adrien Broner

Omar Figueroa Jr. has pulled out of his fight against Adrien Broner.

The undefeated Figueroa and Broner were supposed to square off April 21 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. According to an ESPN.com report Sunday, Figueroa withdrew from their 140-pound championship elimination match due to a shoulder injury sustained during training.

Broner reportedly will still fight April 21. Matchmakers for Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions have begun the process of finding a suitable substitute for Figueroa. Showtime is supposed to televise that April 21 card, which also is slated to include a bout between Jermall Charlo (26-0, 20 KOs) and Huge Centeno Jr. (26-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC) for the WBC interim middleweight championship.

In addition to his shoulder injury, Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) also has a legal situation he must address.

The Weslaco, Texas, native has a court date set for March 26 in Indio, California. The super lightweight contender will face a charge of driving under the influence, stemming from an arrest January 29 in Indian Wells, California.

Figueroa, 28, prepares for his fights in nearby Indio, where trainer Joel Diaz owns a gym.

Broner (33-3, 24 KOs, 1 NC) was arrested two weeks after Figueroa was busted for DUI. The four-division champion from Cincinnati, who has dealt with numerous legal issues in recent years, was arrested February 12 because a woman claimed Broner “inappropriately groped her” outside of a store in Lenox Square, an upscale mall in Atlanta.

Police charged Broner for misdemeanor sexual battery.

Broner and Figueroa were supposed to fight to become the WBC’s mandatory challenger at 140 pounds. Whether Broner’s next bout remains a WBC eliminator likely will depend on the opponent that replaces Figueroa.

Amir Imam (21-1, 18 KOs), of Albany, New York, and Jose Ramirez (21-0, 16 KOs), of Avenal, California, will meet March 17 in New York for the vacant WBC super lightweight title Terence Crawford relinquished when he moved up to the welterweight division last year.

The Imam-Ramirez winner will face whoever emerges from the Regis Prograis-Julius Indongo fight Friday night. Houston’s Prograis (20-0, 17 KOs) and Namibia’s Indongo (22-1, 11 KOs) will fight for the WBC interim 140-pound title in Deadwood, South Dakota (Showtime).

According to a report in the New York Daily News, middleweight contender Jermall Charlo lost more than $150,000 in cash and jewels when a group of women swiped his bag at the 40/40 Club, which is owned by Jay-Z, on W. 25th St. near Broadway in Manhattan, New York.

The paper spoke to police sources, who indicate that Charlo and his crew were involved in a fight at the club - and during the commotion the boxer's fiends left his Louis Vuitton bag unattended on a table.

When Charlo returned to his seat, the bag (likely valued at $5,000-plus) and its contents — $40,000 in cash and $115,000 in jewelry — had vanished.

Local police reviewed surveillance footage and spotted five women leaving the club with the bag.

Police have released the video of the women and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

Charlo was in town to watch Deontay Wilder defend his WBC heavyweight title against Luis Ortiz at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After the fight, Charlo was involved in a heated confrontation with former WBA middleweight beltholder Daniel Jacobs. Some words were exchanged between the two boxers and their friends.

Charlo is scheduled to fight for the WBC's interim-title on April 21 against Hugo Centeno Jr. in a Showtime televised bout. The April date took a hit on Sunday, when Omar Figueroa withdrew from the scheduled main event fight with Adrien Broner. Premier Boxing Champions is now actively hunting for a replacement.

Charlo had previously held the IBF junior middleweight title before making the jump to the middleweight ranks in 2017.

The winner of Charlo vs. Centeno will become the mandatory challenger to the huge rematch in May - between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez - who battle for the WBC, IBO, WBA, IBF world titles at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas,

Wilder surprised me cuz i thought he was gonna lose on decision.....Ortiz was more active and outside of his knockdown he seemed to be landing more shots....hard shots too...but Wilder has a chin and he has the power....his form and technique is a lil odd to me and that might be his downfall at some point if he comes across a very technical HW boxer which idk if there is even one in that division anymore...i also hope he unifies the belts and brings boxing back cuz even tho the lower divisions are holding it down boxing doesn't mean shit unless the HW's are at the forefront of the sport IMO.

WBC, WBA Back Canelo in Test Controversy: He is Innoncent!

The headlines have exploded from the moment it was revealed that Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez had tested positive for trace levels of the banned drug clenbuterol.

The Mexican superstar has the backing of the World Boxing Council and the World Boxing Association - two of the sanctioning bodies involved in his upcoming fight.

Golden Boy Promotions confirmed via a news release that Canelo provided the positive sample as part of the voluntary testing program he requested ahead of his rematch with Gennady Golovkin at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 5.

Golden Boy's statement added that Daniel Eichner, director of Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory who conducted the tests, said via a letter: "These values are all within the range of what is expected from meat contamination."

The first bout between Canelo and Golovkin ended in a contentious draw.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman believes the boxer is innocent.

"We are going to follow the same line that we have taken in each of the positives [for other boxers who tested positive for clenbuteral]. We will follow the protocol and we will work with the boxing commission where the fight will take place to get to the bottom of things," said Sulaiman to ESPN Deportes.

"In a superficial way, as far as we know about clenbuterol, because of the level found and with the clean record of Canelo, who has been a part of the program of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency for four years and had never tested positive, and considering that the problem of clenbuterol is a public health issue - everything indicates that it is a food contamination."

Gilberto Mendoza, the President of the WBA, is also backing Canelo with this problem.

"I believe in Canelo's innocence. He has always shown himself to be a clean athlete. It seems that the issue of clenbuterol is a common problem in Mexico, and on some occasions a sister organization like the WBC has had to study this problem more often in the past and I think they will have much more experience in this regard.

"I know that it is within the levels that are reflected by the consumption of contaminated meat and as I have been able to read that he will undergo any test and if it maintains that, then the WBA will be on Canelo's side with the doors wide open as we have always done. We are going to have a big fight on May 5. This will add a bit of drama to the fight. I know the fight will continue, and we will agree to establish additional protocols, although this procedure is led by VADA and there should be no problem."

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has yet to make an official ruling on the status of the rematch.

De La Hoya To Wilder: I'll Get You Real Money, Make You a PPV Star

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has sent an open invitation to WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder {40-0, 39 KOs).

De La Hoya would like to bring Wilder on board and make him a pay-per-view star.

Golden Boy had promoted the majority of Wilder's career fights. They parted ways following Wilder's world title win over Bermane Stiverne in January of 2015 - when Wilder departed to move forward with his adviser Al Haymon, who began Premier Boxing Champions.

This past Saturday night, Wilder survived a tough seventh round in his seventh title defense against Luis Ortiz, and then knocked out the challenger in the 10th round to retain his crown.

Over 14,000 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn were on edge during the contest.

“A true champion always finds a way to come back and that’s what I did tonight,” Wilder said. “Luis Ortiz is definitely a crafty guy. He put up a great fight. We knew we had to wear him down. I showed everyone I can take a punch.”

Ortiz went down three times in the contest, once in the fifth and twice in the tenth before the fight was waved off.

After watching that performance, De La Hoya sees dollar signs.

"Wilder, congratulations on such a great accomplishment when everyone doubted you, hit me up when you wanna make real money and have someone who will promote you to be a PPV star," De La Hoya stated on social media.

Technically Wilder is without a promotional agreement, although Lou DiBella handles most of his events on behalf of Haymon.

A few years ago, Roc Nation Sports made their move to sign Wilder. They met with the boxer and offered him a very sizable amount of money to come on board. In the end, Wilder took a pass and decided to stay with Haymon and the PBC banner.
