They've added days, taken away days, added months, changed the names of days and months, changed the day of the new year, advanced and rewound hours, made a leap year, and with climate change, not even the Earth is a fair indicator of seasons anymore.

What the fuck are we celebrating?

I mean, isn't it whatever we want? PPL put so much into new years, but it's main function as a holiday is just to get people to improve. Lots of folks say "well i could just do them thangs any other day", but the thing is, they don't. The new years are good for making realistic, true-to-self goals for improvement.
