FEATURED What's Something That Improved Your Mental Health?

Oh this is another simple one

Saying no to shit you don’t really want to do AND not providing a reason why

Shit I been doing this daily for as long as I can remember 😭 nah don’t invite me to shit or to be around people you know damn well I don’t wanna around or do.

My anxiety gets at a all time high when I get around large groups of people especially if Idk em. So I usually remove myself from those situations.. now a small group even if Idk anyone I can manage and deal with especially since I solo dolo majority of the time.

It’s been rough for me as far as energy because I don’t drink coffee and never have

Everybody be going through their days with coffee and I’m doing it off the natty lol

Ill drink a coffee here and there mostly winter time to warm me up but even then I usually won’t well… construction industry life… only matter of time till that coffee hit ya bowels and you in that porta potty… nah avoid this at all cost lol.

Story of my life 😩 for the most part I quit or very seldom drink energy drinks nowadays… now the Coca Cola… I can’t beat that habit.

One thing I started doing different and getting me away from depending on energy drinks is using propel, body armor (powder) or even the drinks and mixing one packet in a big bottle of water like a 32oz etc and just sipping that throughout the day. Helps me drink more water and gives that little flavor. Working a physical labor job, in the heat I need all the electrolytes I can get. You can also double up on the packets if desired. You can even use pre workout but stay away from the ones that have Beta-Alanine unless you enjoy the “itch” or tiggle you generally get from it.

Funny you mention electrolytes, do you use the Liquid IV (or similar brands) powder??? Ive just bought some but havnt tried it yet, apparently its been a game changer for alot of people...

Weve had crazy heatwaves over here recently and my job is quite demanding and most of it is outdoors... My eyes have literally been stinging from all the salt/sodium Ive been sweating out... Hoping this stuff replenishes all my minerals and my levels crashing...

I haven’t personally but I’m sure they are fine. I might have to try grab some next grocery store run. Usually I grab several different flavors of Propel/C4 or even the Body Armor packets (but these dont really taste right since they usually mixed w/ coconut water in their actual drink). C4 Ill drink in the morning as a preworkout before the gym and then stick to mostly propel or even Body Armor (actually drink).

I know the feeling all to well.. what I’ve done over the past few years dealing with it.. stay covered up in lightweight breathable material. Dry fit long sleeve shirt and something to keep the heat off your face/neck. Soaked rag or what I wear is a light breathable tshirt over my face… keeps the sweat down some and keeps the sun from directly cooking the back of your neck or face. I do a lot of sandblasting so sweat + raw steel = big ol no no will flash rust it so damn quick you’ll be re-doing it so this is what works for me in my line of work.

Sounds brutal man... Thankfully we only had 3 or 4 heatwaves this year summer, think we are due atleast one more though... Then it'll rain and be freezing cold!!!

This years heatwaves have been ridiculous though, feels like they get worse every year, we dont have air con in the UK either!!! lol

I know the drinks dont taste great or they shouldnt as they should be pretty salty tasting, so I didnt wanna waste money without trying them first... Liquid IV isnt too bad so I picked it up, I considered LMNT but cant get a sample...

making my circle smaller

less people you deal w/ less problems you deal w/
This too....

I just don't deal with people anymore.. Sometimes it gets boring... But ultimately it's less stress and more peace

I stopped watching nigga babble shows like power and the chi. Also stopped watching horror or hyper violent films. I try not to have too much of that shit in my orbit.

Solitude. I'm perfectly fine being alone in silence for hours. Especially if its outside. Few other things allow me to feel the balance I get from this.

Playing basketball. There is something therapeutic about working on your game. I have a lot of therapy sessions with myself while playing. Sometimes its about learning to stay balanced.

Lastly, but mostly, weed. Nothing helps me to get to the "now" faster.

I started drinking Bubly sparkling water to help kick drinking pop, but in particular Coke. Bubly cherry was the start, now I keep a couple of 8 packs in the crib of the various flavors at all times so I'm not bringing Coke or RC up in the spot.

Getting more sleep

I been doing bad at this lately though

Once we moved here, me and sleep became friends. Yeah I gotta get up in the middle of the night to take a whiz, but when I lay my head down I'm out and dreaming within a few minutes.

Starting my day earlier and ended my nights even earlier. I workout before work as opposed to after work. Sucks to wake up much earlier but I get it knocked out and way more productive w/ less time. I get to work and I’m good as far as energy and mood versus just getting up 45 mins before and being cranky as hell and mad at the world. Also noticed keeping my phone in the truck and not bringing it in the gym is a game changer. I still do this sometimes on the weekend when I have nothing but time but during the week nah.

...minding my business

- Not allowing myself to be involved in other people's bs

- Avoiding work drama by mostly tending to myself

- Staying off social media...ie. Twitter/Facebook/TT. I only deal wit IG just for the searches. Other than that, I'm here.

- For the most part, avoiding politics. Its a cesspool. Politicians are viruses. I blame the current climate on the American people. Er'go...I no longer engulf myself in the shyt.

I maintain my mental well-being by being around people who love me. Plain & simple.

-This is me as well.. including IG.

-I don’t talk about religion or politics.. it never goes well. Besides maybe I’ll say my $.2 here but thats the extent.

-I don’t get involved in work drama.. ill take my breaks/lunch break sitting on the tailgate of my truck for that reason. I remember working tech support in a call center in my early 20s never again with the drama that went on constantly nope.. I don’t give a fuck lol.

-Reminds me one of my go to when dealing w/ coworkers bs. Ill have my dark shades on and AirPods in.. one of them comes ranting about some unrelated work shit that has zero to do with me. Ill either stare at them like I’m not paying attention and watch them vent they’ll get the point when I don’t reply or point to my Airpods when they talking so they know music on I’m not listening to ya ass but really it be low enough where I can hear them 😂. Certified asshole but they eventually get the point.

-If I’m not work I don’t talk about work even when I’m at work I don’t wanna talk about work 😄 some people let work consume their life all day… not me.

Ive said this before on here people's politics come out in all sorts of ways that don't directly involve saying who they do or don't vote for. And for the most part your politics will align with people you're close to. So it does get discussed. Just not in traditional ways

Adderall helped me focus way better. I took Ritalin off and I’m growing up. Thought I could outgrow ADHD. Can’t outgrow it tho and started Adderall probably like 2016.

Mainly take it for work tho and I notice the difference

And I just signed up and started therapy. Def helps with just two sessions I think

That was one of my diagnoses, I'm just not taking meds for it. I learned to work through my anxiety issues but one of the biggest helps in that area was drastically reducing my caffeine intake. No more energy drinks for me, and I was tossin' back 2-3 cans a day along with several cans of Coca Cola. Now it's just black or green tea in the morning and that's it. Getting enough sleep was another big one 'cause while I was taking care of my wife I rarely ever slept long enough to hit REM sleep and that went on for 7-8 years.

My daughter has that
