What would you do if you were the son in this situation?

As children. You asking children to pick a side and holding a grudge over it is dysfunctional.

So, siding with the man who broke up their family would be OK just because they are kids?

Unless the father was cruel or beating the sisters, nah. They flipped on him. The son is right.

So this vid popped up on my YT.



TLDW: The caller was asking if they thought he should pay his two sisters' student loans. Basically what happened was that when they were younger, their parents got divorced because the mom cheated on the dad. The sisters went with the mom because they liked the guy she cheated with better than their dad. The caller thinks it was because the stepdad could give them gifts and expensive things at a time when the father couldn't. The caller stayed with his dad because that was his dad. Things picked up for the dad and he started doing well for himself. He tried to reach out to his daughters and form a relationship with them, but they weren't interested. At some point, they did come running back to him because of they needed help paying for school, but he refused. The father died and left everything to the caller. The inheritance wound up being worth over 10M. The sisters have since reached out to him asking if he could pay off their school dead, which is about 300K. The caller doesn't seem to care much about giving them money, but he doesn't want to do it because he feels like his father didn't want them to have anything and he doesn't want to dishonor his father's wishes.

What would you do in this situation?

It depends on the turmoil I watch my dad go through and his character. And there are some situations in life in which turning the other cheek does more for your soul than revenge. So if I watched my father really go through it and it deeply harmed him. Out of respect for him as who he was when he was alive. They can kick rocks. But if witness him have conflicted feelings. I’m going to forgive for him in spirit, what he couldn’t accomplish in his own heart when he was alive. But that’s all I would do. Nothing more, nothing less. They chose their battle, I’ll end my fathers war.
