WhyWallace
This is two fold...that can be broken down in 1) the character of WallaceWhy
Although it might be pretty open and shut, but I would like to read your thoughts because I agree
This is two fold...that can be broken down in 1) the character of Wallace
2) the actor
1) As a character , we all know someone like Wallace...no parents , just out there trying to figure out life a day at a time, understanding there might be more to life out there but ultimately realizing w the cards he is dealt with he ain’t gonna be shit but who he is...all the while trying to make a difference in the lives of the next generation....i can go further but I’ll stop here but will conclude w the fact all this takes place in 7 episodes
The actor- Michael B Jordan s major role before the Wire was some clown on a soap opera...so being able to transition from one type of role and acting to another....picking up a Baltimore accent ( most say his bmore accent was wack but he tried)....convincingly toggling between childhood and adulthood....also convincingly playing a druggie...finally putting on one of the best performances on a show full of seasoned and some formally and classically trained thespians
whyKilmonger.
Sike I would go with Creed. He really made me believe the character and its intensity.
I was thinking this because its the role that gave him the juice. But his performance wasnt anything special. He just played a regular person doing regular shit then he gets shot at the end.Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station
That was the most natural I’ve seen him in any movie. He usually comes off kinda forced,
This was like any role where someone gets shot though. The Wire had some cringe worthy directing and acting. It seemed more for shock value imo which ruined the scene. They have a problem telegraphing deaths in the wire so it ruins the moment. Ricky getting popped in Boys in the Hood was done much better. Like Ricky was the lease one to die besides Tre. It was actually a sad scene. No diss but Wallace was another street kid that you expect to get popped. It was only a matter of time. I mean I knew alot of Wallaces and I wasn't surprised when someone shot them.Wallace....
That shit was a perfectly told tragic story and he played it perfectly.
Dude was so believable.... Like I legit felt sorry for Lil homie and cried when he died....
That character was so imperfectly human....
That scene when he got shot bruh......
Bruh...
He was like
C'mon... Y'all my niggaz.....
That shit hurt bruh.... Like forreal hurt.
I wouldn't be good for a minute after shooting that scene....
I needed a moment after watching it
This is the hottest take I've EVER read about the wireThis was like any role where someone gets shot though. The Wire had some cringe worthy directing and acting. Season 2 is a piece of the puzzle. Maybe not any of the stronger seasons but it serves as glue to the rest of the showThe Wire overrated.
And season 2 is complete trash.
Ppl was just happy to see black ppl on HBO
There were black ppl on HBO way before the Wire tho let’s not derail the threadThe Wire overrated.
