so, milk as a liquid makes cereal soft, but water as a solid that eventually melts when introduced to a liquid keeps the cereal crunchy??

I never said it keeps the cereal crunchy indefinitely but it does keep it crunchy longer. That's it.

Leave it setting long enough, and you guessed it, it'll get soggy.
