I will second the portable car battery jumper. I had to use mine more than a few times and it was very convenient.

A gun of some sort. You just never know when you may need it. It would suck to need one but instead have to wait for help that may be too late.

My dad got me one for Father's Day years ago that I just put away. When I was unpacking a box last week, I found it and started carrying it and it's already been paying off for the most random things.
