The person is right on the strategic potential: Venezuela is an energy goldmine, and controlling it provides massive leverage against rivals like China (who currently gets most of that oil) and Russia.

They are likely "wrong" on the simplicity: You can't just "turn on the tap" and get $15 trillion. It requires a decade of rebuilding a broken country. Furthermore, their view of inflation ignores the fact that the U.S. economy is currently producing more energy than ever before, yet prices remained high for reasons far beyond just oil.
