COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

The crazy thing is they aren't that good. It's not like these dudes provide insightful analysis. They basically just make videos commenting on clips with the same level of commentary as you might get on here.
I thought they mainly do interviews w/ various political folks & politicians.. But w/ being said would you rather have people listening to that MAGA clown Rogan…

They do those, but most of the videos I see popping up are things like this.

I know that's not the podcast, so maybe they are more insightful on that. I guess it's better to have people listen to them. I'm just surprised that they are so successful based on the quality of what they put out.

Serious. Those posts were after Canada reneged on the electricity surplus and before Canadas retaliatory $20+ billion tariffs reported this morning.

Feel free to elaborate.

It seemed like you were implying that the tariffs were accomplishing something of substance when the talks that are going on basically just reps from the two countries figuring out what can be done to get out of this mess. It's kind of hard to solve that problem when Trump's reasoning for doing the tariffs is wanting Canada to stop a nonexistent fentanyl flood at the northern border and because he wants Canada as the 51st state.

Trump trying to make Canada this new enemy is stupid as hell.

As President Donald Trump has been trying to keep House Republicans in line over a continuing resolution to keep the government open through the fall, Elon Musk has expressed a desire for a government shutdown, four sources familiar with his position tell WIRED.

Sources also tell WIRED that Musk has wanted a government shutdown—an aim that runs contrary to the White House’s stated desire to avoid one—in part because it would potentially make it easier to eliminate the jobs of hundreds of thousands of federal workers, essentially achieving a permanent shutdown. The sources, whom WIRED has granted anonymity, specifically asked to be described generically because information about Musk’s support for a shutdown is closely held.

A second Republican who had heard about Musk’s desire for a government shutdown tells WIRED that the billionaire’s goal is for the continuing resolution—a spending bill to temporarily fund the government—to tank, if only to achieve a brief government shutdown.

“You know none of this is about saving money, right?” says a third Republican familiar with the behind-the-scenes push from Musk. “It’s all about destroying a liberal power base.”

On brand for him though. Remember he tried to make the EU the new enemy last term and is revving that up again now.

To be honest, I've lost track of any real goal for what Trump is doing now. Inflating his ego and enriching himself and his donors is always something he wants. However, now it seems like he's legit trying to destroy the country. What would he or his backers get out of that? It's kinda self-defeating to put all this effort into amassing US dollars if the US dollar won't be worth shit by the time you're finished.

I wasn't implying tariffs were doing anything good. Maybe u and sneak missed my first post on the tariffs where the first sentence stated it would damage us short and long term. So not sure how yall took that I was implying otherwise.

Some people are claiming that Trump is using the Tariffs to force Canada to come to the table and give America what it wants (whatever that could be). You statement seemed in-line with that thinking. If not, my mistake.
