Rogan made a joke about going to see a movie in black neighborhood and saying it was like "The Planet of the Apes" when he got out his car. It was clearly a joke, but it was also one that shouldn't have been made. He's been seen as a racist ever since then. I don't know if he's an actual racist, but he is an unrepentant line stepper on a number of issues.
