This is a very common timeline. The only reason why everyday people don't drag theirs out this long is because they don't have the money to take it on.
He played this all wrong from the start, if he didn't start taunting her after the shooting Meg would have probably stayed silent about everything

If I remember correctly, Joe Budden was off the mark regarding this case. I remember he said people in the industry know what really happened in this case
After the verdict came out in his "apology" he admitted he was getting most of his sources from people who were biased towards Tory and he's mentioned that Meg has "harmed" people in the industry he knows but wont say who or what she did. He's been using that to keep his "Meg is probably lying" train going
