Tony Yayo>>Andre 3000

Not involved in the G-unit vs Outkast convo but question.

Has any group in rap ever had their Yayo level rapper go platinum?

Even though Silk was one of no limit top people if he went platinum you 100% correct.

The main guy was Yayo level!

LOL naw can't give P that. Yayo was looked as a funny type nigga. P was never looked at that way.

In terms of lyrics level I get the statement though but I just can't agree.

Fiend was the best nigga on no limit to me.

Oh I meant in terms of lyrics ability but word word

yeah Fiend probably was he’s an acquired taste though

No 50 had a hot 2 album run.

G-Unit had 1 hot album.

They wisely named their 2nd album Terminate on Site, and that's exactly what folks did with them.

sayin 50 had a two album run, is like basing lil Wayne’s career on his albums. These guys basically changed the way that mixtapes would be used far as marketing and exposure. Setting up business deals and promotion for upcoming albums. 50 also had a hand in all those G-unit albums going gold and platinum early on. Banks, game, Buck, the dude squeeze a gold album outta Tony Yayo fam hahaha

Actually worst album from gunit was rotten apple

major disappointment. I remember being so hype about that album. I heard the album sounded much different, but they had some sample clearing issues. Few cuts that were rumored to be on album but went the mixtape route due to sample clearance

“in the ground”
“Time to chill”
Those two songs alone get that album an extra Source mic

I think what he's saying is the impact of 50s music flamed out pretty quickly. I mentioned this in a previous thread but alot of people seem to forget 50 went through a bunch of failed singles trying to push his 3rd album til he stumbled on I Get Money and him and Kanye did their fake beef...and that was in 20007. 50 first came around mainstream wise in 2002 so to be struggling for a hit single than 5 years later with as big of an introduction as he had does speak to people not really rocking with 50 and G Unit for as long as people might actually remember them being hot. What was his actual last even pseudo hit? That "Baby By Me" song?

And let's stop acting like 50 was the only one doing mixtapes. Most MF went back and listened to them AFTER he blew up.

Lil' Wayne was putting out them Squad Up mixtapes at the same time. He was getting notice from them, not 50s.
