Virginia can sell wine and beer in grocery stores.Really? Where? I haven't seen that yet. I haven't really seen it in VA either. That said, in my area there's a liquor store on every corner, so it isn't really needed.
What counties? I know they not doing it in the city.Maryland is finally selling alcohol in grocery stores. Bout time
I thought VA was always allowed to sell wine and beer. Is that a new thing?
I've pretty much always lived in the South so I'm used to having to go to the liquor store. I remember the first time I went to Cali and saw the liquor section in Albertsons. My mind was blown.
I didn't know packaged goods wasn't a thing other places either.
In Baltimore City we say "I'm going to the bar" and it's understood that you're going to the liquor store, that's also packaged goods and there is a highly likelihood that there's a sit down bar attached to it. I had a homie from ATL down here, he was flabbergasted... Said shit not like that further down south
Nope. Not hereDamn, I just took it for granted that you could cop at least beer and wine at grocery stores everywhere.
Bar and liquor store are synonymous.. as many liquor stores have bars in the back. And they don't sell shit in grocery stores or gas stations.. now once you cross into VA it's way differentYeah, it ain't like that in the southwest or here in Michigan. If you say you're going to a bar here, you're going to a sitdown bar. There are dedicated liquor stores, bot those are like boutique shops that sell a huge assortment of liquors, wines, and craft beers. Some might even have a deli in them. Buying alcohol at a gas station is a thing out here as well. There's one I stop at frequently that has an absolutely amazing assortment of liquor behind the counter and another one near campus that could easily rival them in the liquor department but their beer and wine selections aren't as good. The average party store (i.e. convenience store) usually has at least beer and wine in them and some will also sell liquor.
It is not new for Virginia. I was just comparingI thought VA was always allowed to sell wine and beer. Is that a new thing?
