OPINION Things that are depicted on TV that's the complete opposite of real life

Just finished watching the first season of 13 reasons why. Good show imo so watch if you haven't already but there are a lot of things you see on TV that are either just flat out lies or gross exaggerations of stuff in real life.

What are some of these things you've seen on TV/movies and be like "hell nah, it ain't like that in real life"

My first observation, lawyers. On TV, the men are dressed in nicely tailored suits with nice shoes. The women lawyers, nice makeup, dresses/suits, etc.

IRL, they don't have any tastes. The men wear choppa suits with parachute shirts, god awful ties, and beat tf up shoes that are dull with no shine.

The women, built bad, no sense of style, old ass looking clothes, bad hair, etc...

On TV and alot of commercials the typical social group is etiher "two white males, white woman and black guy" or "two white males, white woman and afro black woman"

Shit is far fetched in real life to see that group kicking it like that. Probably some cooned out wanna be black dude who listens to Florida Georgia line, and I've never known a "natural" woman hang out casually with white people regularly like that, if they do their hair is hella permed and straight and white washed.


This may have been my most ignorant post here, but I'm just saying what I've seen. I can be wrong though!

another good one. I would rather a show solve one or two big crimes a season and spread out over a few episodes than every single episode, they figured out who done it

the problem with this is, and depending on how the show is written, you might end up dragging it out longer than it needs to be. You need some excellent actors and a great story to be able to pull this off tho. See True Detective season 1

Here in Vegas, Phoenix, and Detroit lawyers are always "properly attired". Conservative suits or dresses, nice shoes, no flashy ties etc. You can almost always tell the lawyers apart from the people being represented because they're always dressed like businessmen/women.
