Carl Higbie, An Ex-Admin Official Ousted Over Racist Comments, Resigns From Trump-Tied Nonprofit
Carl Higbie, who left the Trump administration over a CNN report on his racist comments, has resigned from Donald Trump-tied group America First Policies after donors began dropping the organization due to, in part, his association.
While Higbie served as a director of advocacy for America First Policies, a nonprofit group that conducts polling in the hopes of helping the administration, the Trump campaign, and the RNC, he is now moving onto another organization.
“I resigned to join the other organization,” Higbie said to CNN. “That release will have all the details next week.”
Higbie’s resignation comes just after the journalistic research group Maplight uncovered America First Polices’ donors and began notifying them about the racist views espoused by some of those who work at the nonprofit. This report led CVS Health, Southern Company, and Dow Chemical to all cut off their donations to America First Policies.
America First Policies chose to not respond to the CNN report, but when asked for comment from Maplight, they issued the following non-statement: “We don’t comment on stories by organizations funded by the radical left, including the Democracy Alliance and George Soros.”
However, Higbie is not the only person at America First Policies who has voiced racist views. In a video uncovered by Mediaite, Juan Pablo Andrade, who is a policy adviser for the nonprofit, can be seen saying, “The only thing the Nazis didn’t get right is they didn’t keep fucking going!”
Andrade claims the video takes his words out of context, but the fact that he said them while talking face-to-face to an alt-right activist who participated in the Charlottesville, Virginia white supremacist march is more than a little damning.
House Democrats Call For A Criminal Investigation Into Scott Pruitt
House Democrats called Thursday for a criminal investigation into EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, arguing that he has used his office to enrich himself and his family in violation of federal law.
In a letter sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Acting Assistant Attorney General John Cronan, six Democrats largely focused on one of the most recent scandals plaguing Pruitt, emails showing that he tried to use an EPA aide to set up a meeting with the CEO of Chick-Fil-A. Pruitt wanted help arranging for his wife to take over a franchise.
“Look, my wife is an entrepreneur herself, I love, she loves, we love Chick-fil-A as a franchise of faith and it’s one of the best in the country and that’s something we were very excited about and we need more of them in Tulsa and we need more of them across the country,” Pruitt said by way of explanation on Thursday. “So anyway, it’s an exciting time.”
The letter also mentions the months-old scandal that Pruitt was living in a Washington apartment partly owned by the wife of an energy lobbyist for a shockingly low price.
“We formally request that the FBI open an investigation into Administrator Scott Pruitt’s conduct to assess whether he broke the law, including criminal statutes prohibiting public corruption,” the letter concludes.
Trump's such a smug asshole, but better to be that than the bitch ass nigga he pushed around, lol.
Trump Trashes CNN After Tough Question from Reporter: ‘You Can Tell That to Your Fake Friends…’
During his brief press conference at the G-7 summit today, President Trump got pretty animated when he found out a reporter asking him a tough question was from CNN.
The reporter brought up the tensions between the United States and allies, noting the perception he’s “leaving here early to go meet for more friendlier talks with Kim Jong Un in Singapore.”
He asked, “Do you view it the same way and do you view the U.S. alliance system shifting under your presidency?”
The President’s first response was to ask, “Who are you with, out of curiosity?”
The reporter responded, “CNN.”
“I figured,” Trump said. “Fake news CNN, the worst.”
He went on to brag about how his “level of relationship is a 10” with the other G-7 leaders, emphasizing he doesn’t blame them but rather past American leaders over bad trade deals.
And as he continued, the President made a point of jabbing CNN again:
“The relationship that I’ve had is great, so you can tell that to your fake friends at CNN.”
Trump Rocks Up Late to Gender Equality Breakfast at G-7, Causing ‘Distraction’
President Donald Trump showed up late to a breakfast event on gender equality at the G-7 with his fellow leaders, causing something of a scene.
The move “created a distraction” (gasp!), Canadian network CTV reported. According to a pool report, the breakfast started at 8:00 a.m., and the oval table had an empty chair for the U.S. president.
Trump’s big awkward entrance got caught on tape, and it’s magnificent.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau kicked things off without Trump, and when he finished his opening remarks Isabelle Hudon, Canada’s ambassador to France, spoke next. While she was speaking, Trump stormed into the breakfast.
French president Emmanuel Macron gave him a wink, per the pool report.
Trump Seems To Really Want Russia Back In The G-7: ‘It Would Be An Asset
For the second time in two days, President Trump called for Russia to be let back into the G-7.
Russia was kicked out of the global summit over its invasion of Ukraine. But Trump, who has asserted a decisively pro-Russia posture, said Saturday at the G-7 in Canada that it would be an “asset to have Russia back in.”
“This used to be the G-8, not the G-7, and something happened a while ago where Russia is no longer in,” Trump told reporters. “I think it would be an asset to have Russia back in. I think it would be good for the world. I think it would be good for Russia. I think it would be good for the United States. I think it would be good for all of the countries of the current G-7. I think the G-8 would be better. I think having Russia back in would be a positive thing. We’re looking for peace in the world, we’re not looking to play games.”
Before leaving the White House Friday to travel to the summit, Trump called for Russia to be readmitted to the group. Trump boasted that he had been Russia’s “biggest nightmare,” but that the country should have a seat at the negotiating table.
Speaking about Russia’s military incursion in Crimea, a peninsula that was part of Ukraine, Trump on Saturday blamed President Obama for the annexation.
“He was the one who let Crimea get away … Crimea was let go during the Obama administration. Obama can say all he wants. He allowed Russia to take Crimea. I may have had a much different attitude,” Trump said.
CNBC’s John Harwood Concerned About Trump’s ‘State of Mind’ After Presser: ‘He Did Not Look Well’
President Trump‘s press conference this morning at the G-7 summit was so stunning to the panel on MSNBC’s AM Joy that they wondered if the President is well.
Trump today stood by his call to reinstate Russia in the G-7, blamed Barack Obama for the annexation of Crimea, and he also got in a few shots at the “fake news,” CNN in particular.
Joy Reid brought up the tariff discussion before CNBC’s John Harwood brought things to Trump’s state of mind:
“I’ll be honest, as a citizen, I’m concerned about the President’s state of mind. He did not look well to me in that press conference. He was not speaking logically or rationally. It sounded as if he was making stuff us, saying, you know, China told me nobody’s ever talked to us or saying, ‘Oh, you know, I talked to Justin Trudeau,’ and he can’t believe he was getting away with so much trade stuff. I don’t think those things are true. There was something about his affect which was oddly kind of languid from him. I don’t know what it means, but he did not look well to me.”
MSNBC contributor Malcolm Nance agreed, saying, “I think Steve Schmidt said this the other day, that Donald Trump comes off like a moron… I think he came off like an idiot today. I was almost shocked at the way that he spoke with utter contempt of every president that preceded him.”
He found the president to be very narcissistic today and argued, “This man wouldn’t qualify for the nuclear weapons control system to allow him to be anywhere near the nuclear control… keys or even guarding them.”
“He came off like Mad King Donald,” he added.
Mother Jones DC bureau chief David Corn weighed in along the same lines, telling Reid, “If you were talking to me this morning the way we just heard Donald Trump talk, I would ask you if you’d taken any medication, advise you not to operate any heavy machinery.”
Yeah that's all crazy but Russian interference only works if the cacs of that country want it to. They just fan the the racist flames which already exist
