What yall predict on Manafort? Pleads guilty and flips on Trump or takes the charge and waits it out to see if Trump pardons him

Manafort will know before hand if Trump is going to pardon him. He ain't going to have to wait on that info.

He kinda lucky he one of the first up. If Trump is plannin' on pardonin', he'll put himself under more pressure with every guilty person he pardons.

Carl Higbie, An Ex-Admin Official Ousted Over Racist Comments, Resigns From Trump-Tied Nonprofit

Carl Higbie, who left the Trump administration over a CNN report on his racist comments, has resigned from Donald Trump-tied group America First Policies after donors began dropping the organization due to, in part, his association.

While Higbie served as a director of advocacy for America First Policies, a nonprofit group that conducts polling in the hopes of helping the administration, the Trump campaign, and the RNC, he is now moving onto another organization.

“I resigned to join the other organization,” Higbie said to CNN. “That release will have all the details next week.”

Higbie’s resignation comes just after the journalistic research group Maplight uncovered America First Polices’ donors and began notifying them about the racist views espoused by some of those who work at the nonprofit. This report led CVS Health, Southern Company, and Dow Chemical to all cut off their donations to America First Policies.

America First Policies chose to not respond to the CNN report, but when asked for comment from Maplight, they issued the following non-statement: “We don’t comment on stories by organizations funded by the radical left, including the Democracy Alliance and George Soros.”

However, Higbie is not the only person at America First Policies who has voiced racist views. In a video uncovered by Mediaite, Juan Pablo Andrade, who is a policy adviser for the nonprofit, can be seen saying, “The only thing the Nazis didn’t get right is they didn’t keep fucking going!”

Andrade claims the video takes his words out of context, but the fact that he said them while talking face-to-face to an alt-right activist who participated in the Charlottesville, Virginia white supremacist march is more than a little damning.

House Democrats Call For A Criminal Investigation Into Scott Pruitt

House Democrats called Thursday for a criminal investigation into EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, arguing that he has used his office to enrich himself and his family in violation of federal law.

In a letter sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Acting Assistant Attorney General John Cronan, six Democrats largely focused on one of the most recent scandals plaguing Pruitt, emails showing that he tried to use an EPA aide to set up a meeting with the CEO of Chick-Fil-A. Pruitt wanted help arranging for his wife to take over a franchise.

“Look, my wife is an entrepreneur herself, I love, she loves, we love Chick-fil-A as a franchise of faith and it’s one of the best in the country and that’s something we were very excited about and we need more of them in Tulsa and we need more of them across the country,” Pruitt said by way of explanation on Thursday. “So anyway, it’s an exciting time.”

The letter also mentions the months-old scandal that Pruitt was living in a Washington apartment partly owned by the wife of an energy lobbyist for a shockingly low price.

“We formally request that the FBI open an investigation into Administrator Scott Pruitt’s conduct to assess whether he broke the law, including criminal statutes prohibiting public corruption,” the letter concludes.

Trump Trashes CNN After Tough Question from Reporter: ‘You Can Tell That to Your Fake Friends…’

During his brief press conference at the G-7 summit today, President Trump got pretty animated when he found out a reporter asking him a tough question was from CNN.

The reporter brought up the tensions between the United States and allies, noting the perception he’s “leaving here early to go meet for more friendlier talks with Kim Jong Un in Singapore.”

He asked, “Do you view it the same way and do you view the U.S. alliance system shifting under your presidency?”

The President’s first response was to ask, “Who are you with, out of curiosity?”

The reporter responded, “CNN.”

“I figured,” Trump said. “Fake news CNN, the worst.”

He went on to brag about how his “level of relationship is a 10” with the other G-7 leaders, emphasizing he doesn’t blame them but rather past American leaders over bad trade deals.

And as he continued, the President made a point of jabbing CNN again:

The relationship that I’ve had is great, so you can tell that to your fake friends at CNN.”

Trump Rocks Up Late to Gender Equality Breakfast at G-7, Causing ‘Distraction’

President Donald Trump showed up late to a breakfast event on gender equality at the G-7 with his fellow leaders, causing something of a scene.

The move “created a distraction” (gasp!), Canadian network CTV reported. According to a pool report, the breakfast started at 8:00 a.m., and the oval table had an empty chair for the U.S. president.

Trump’s big awkward entrance got caught on tape, and it’s magnificent.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau kicked things off without Trump, and when he finished his opening remarks Isabelle Hudon, Canada’s ambassador to France, spoke next. While she was speaking, Trump stormed into the breakfast.

French president Emmanuel Macron gave him a wink, per the pool report.

Trump Seems To Really Want Russia Back In The G-7: ‘It Would Be An Asset

For the second time in two days, President Trump called for Russia to be let back into the G-7.

Russia was kicked out of the global summit over its invasion of Ukraine. But Trump, who has asserted a decisively pro-Russia posture, said Saturday at the G-7 in Canada that it would be an “asset to have Russia back in.”

“This used to be the G-8, not the G-7, and something happened a while ago where Russia is no longer in,” Trump told reporters. “I think it would be an asset to have Russia back in. I think it would be good for the world. I think it would be good for Russia. I think it would be good for the United States. I think it would be good for all of the countries of the current G-7. I think the G-8 would be better. I think having Russia back in would be a positive thing. We’re looking for peace in the world, we’re not looking to play games.”

Before leaving the White House Friday to travel to the summit, Trump called for Russia to be readmitted to the group. Trump boasted that he had been Russia’s “biggest nightmare,” but that the country should have a seat at the negotiating table.

Speaking about Russia’s military incursion in Crimea, a peninsula that was part of Ukraine, Trump on Saturday blamed President Obama for the annexation.

“He was the one who let Crimea get away … Crimea was let go during the Obama administration. Obama can say all he wants. He allowed Russia to take Crimea. I may have had a much different attitude,” Trump said.

CNBC’s John Harwood Concerned About Trump’s ‘State of Mind’ After Presser: ‘He Did Not Look Well’

President Trump‘s press conference this morning at the G-7 summit was so stunning to the panel on MSNBC’s AM Joy that they wondered if the President is well.

Trump today stood by his call to reinstate Russia in the G-7, blamed Barack Obama for the annexation of Crimea, and he also got in a few shots at the “fake news,” CNN in particular.

Joy Reid brought up the tariff discussion before CNBC’s John Harwood brought things to Trump’s state of mind:

I’ll be honest, as a citizen, I’m concerned about the President’s state of mind. He did not look well to me in that press conference. He was not speaking logically or rationally. It sounded as if he was making stuff us, saying, you know, China told me nobody’s ever talked to us or saying, ‘Oh, you know, I talked to Justin Trudeau,’ and he can’t believe he was getting away with so much trade stuff. I don’t think those things are true. There was something about his affect which was oddly kind of languid from him. I don’t know what it means, but he did not look well to me.”

MSNBC contributor Malcolm Nance agreed, saying, “I think Steve Schmidt said this the other day, that Donald Trump comes off like a moron… I think he came off like an idiot today. I was almost shocked at the way that he spoke with utter contempt of every president that preceded him.”

He found the president to be very narcissistic today and argued, “This man wouldn’t qualify for the nuclear weapons control system to allow him to be anywhere near the nuclear control… keys or even guarding them.”

“He came off like Mad King Donald,” he added.

Mother Jones DC bureau chief David Corn weighed in along the same lines, telling Reid, “If you were talking to me this morning the way we just heard Donald Trump talk, I would ask you if you’d taken any medication, advise you not to operate any heavy machinery.”

Meanwhile in the UK, more evidence links the Russians to Brexit:

Arron Banks ‘met with Russian officials multiple times before Brexit vote’

Documents seen by Observer suggest multiple meetings between 2015 and 2017

Arron Banks, the millionaire businessman who bankrolled Nigel Farage’s campaign to quit the EU, had multiple meetings with Russian embassy officials in the run-up to the Brexit referendum, documents seen by the Observer suggest.

Banks, who gave £12m of services to the campaign, becoming the biggest donor in UK history, has repeatedly denied any involvement with Russian officials, or that Russian money played any part in the Brexit campaign. The Observer has seen documents which a senior Tory MP says, if correct, raise urgent and troubling questions about his relationship with the Russian government.

The communications suggest:

• Multiple meetings between the leaders of Leave.EU and high-ranking Russian officials, from November 2015 to 2017.

• Two meetings in the week Leave.EU launched its official campaign.

• An introduction to a Russian businessman, by the Russian ambassador, the day after Leave.EU launched its campaign, who reportedly offered Banks a multibillion dollar opportunity to buy Russian goldmines.

• A trip to Moscow in February 2016 to meet key partners and financiers behind a gold project, including a Russian bank.

• Continued extensive contact in the run-up to the US election when Banks, his business partner and Leave.EU spokesman Andy Wigmore, and Nigel Farage campaigned in the US to support Donald Trump’s candidacy.

Banks and Wigmore – who was also present at many of the meetings – were due to appear before the select committee for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on Tuesday to answer questions about Leave.EU’s role in the European referendum.

Hours after the Observer contacted them for comment on Friday, they published a letter stating they would not attend the hearing, and accused the committee of colluding with a pro-Remain campaign group.

But on Saturday Banks suggested that he would attend after all, and accused the Tory chairman, Damian Collins, of colluding with journalists.

Controversy has grown over Russia’s alleged interference in a series of key polls, including the election of Donald Trump, last year’s French presidential elections and the Brexit referendum, to secure outcomes favourable to President Putin. Putin has long seen the eastward expansion of EU influence as a threat.

Towards the end of last year, Banks issued a statement saying his contacts with “the Russians” consisted of “one boozy lunch” at the Russian embassy. Documents seen by the Observer, suggest a different version of events.

From November 2015, the ambassador, Alexander Yakovenko, courted Banks and Wigmore, inviting them to multiple events and meetings in the run-up to the European referendum, many of which, the documents suggest, they attended.

On 16 November, the documents suggest, Yakovenko invited them to an evening meeting at the Russian embassy. It is not clear if they attended but the next day, 17 November, Leave.EU held its launch event – with Brittany Kaiser of Cambridge Analytica. And on 18 November, Banks and Wigmore again visited the embassy. On this occasion, the Russian ambassador introduced them to a Russian businessman with extensive business interests in Russian goldmines, according to documents seen by the Observer.

It is understood they were presented with a business opportunity in which they were offered a chance to invest in a plan to buy six Russian gold firms and merge them into a single entity, potentially netting a profit of several billion dollars.

Documents seen by the Observer suggest further meetings and discussions took place between the businessman and Banks and Wigmore, including a trip to Moscow in February 2016 during which Banks was scheduled to meet high-level officials from the state-owned bank.

The deal to buy the goldmines with funding from the bank was announced on 5 July 2016, 12 days after the referendum. It is not clear if Banks invested, although he tweeted on 17 July 2016 : “I am buying gold at the moment & big mining stocks.” There is no public record of Banks being an investor in it.

According to the documents seen by the Observer, the hospitality extended both ways with Banks and Wigmore inviting the ambassador and a senior Russian diplomat to attend an evening with business contacts in a pub, and even to watch the results of the referendum at Leave.EU headquarters in Millbank, although the ambassador said he had to decline because of commitments in Moscow.

The invitations continued after the referendum during the time in which Banks, Wigmore and Farage began travelling regularly to America to support Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency, according to the documents.

Ambassador Yakovenko met Wigmore and Banks on 19 August, the day Steve Bannon became Trump’s campaign manager. It was days before they travelled to Mississippi with Nigel Farage for a rally on 25 August at which Donald Trump introduced him to the crowds as “Mr Brexit”. He said a Trump presidency would be “Brexit plus”.

Wigmore declined to comment on any of the allegations the Observer put to him. The Observer submitted questions to Banks on Friday morning. He said initially he needed more time “to check his diary and office computer”. He repeatedly refused to comment, though last night he reportedly downplayed the significance of the meetings and denied that Russian officials sought to influence his Leave.EU referendum campaign.

The Russian Embassy told the Observer: “The Russian Embassy has not in any way intervened in domestic UK political process, including the Brexit referendum. Meeting stakeholders representing all political spectrum of the host country is a natural element of the work of any embassy.”

Collins, the chair of the select committee for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, said: “Russia is not our friend. And this new material raises questions of the most serious nature. If deals were brokered with Russian government help, it would raise urgent questions about Russian interference in our democracy. We urgently need Arron Banks to answer these and other questions. People will wonder if this is the real reason he has cancelled his appearance before the committee.”

Yeah that's all crazy but Russian interference only works if the cacs of that country want it to. They just fan the the racist flames which already exist

Yep. Authoritarian nationalists attracted to authoritarian nationalists. It is funny though seeing the right-wing pro-leave newspapers even covering this - hopefully the likes of the Guardian push with this and it doesn't get buried. There is a lot more to this.
