The Official World Politics Thread

INB4 niggas act like its a crime that we don't blindly accept every black face thrown in front of us.

Hopefully the thread doesn't go down that road. We SHOULD be questioning and scrutinizing every black candadite. We already know what the devils are up to. But we gotta lot of room for improvement in reocgnizing those who look like us but aint for us.

False Equivalence.

No one is saying that we blindly accept anyone.

What I an saying is that we don’t blindly reject candidates, before they even start.

The man literally put in his bid TODAY for his presidential campaign.

Let’s hear these people speak. Let’s understand their platform, let’s challenge them on the issues they stand for, let have them debate, let’s scrutinize their policies, let’s discern their authenticity, let’s give them an opportunity to earn our vote.

Life is nuanced.

Politics, ten times moreso.

These people are vessels and we shouldn’t personalize our opinions about them.

I am infinitely more concerned about their character and what direction and how far they can take us ... as opposed to what random indiscretions, opposition research can pull from their past.

Big Picture - 50 years form now which will be more important?

Nobody blindly rejected him that I saw. Just questions and statements about researching him further. I think thats healthy.

Far as me twisting his words no, thats what he said on video. To me theres no need to further examine why cops are more likely to committ violence and murder toward us because we already know why. To "look at the data" suggests to me that he's towing the line and being careful not to offend a certain segment of the population.

Speak the gospel bruh.

She wouldn't do what?

He was the one who manufactured all of that.

He was the one who told Schumer he'd be happy to shut the government down AND will take full responsibility. He thought that "blame the Dems" tactic was gonna stick.

He wanted to play chicken and lost. Thought Pelosi and the Dems were gonna back down. Thought the full support of his base was gonna be enough. Yeah when them checks wasn't comin in...bills started piling up...them same muthafuccas who supported him, realized they just like everyone else.

I'm all for calling out politicians, but where was this rhetoric when Elizabeth Warren announced? When Schultz announced?

Seems a little one sided to me.

To be fair... not many are even taking Schultz serious. And we’ve been through this with Elizabeth Warren $5 Indian ass already

It's still very early. Everyone will time to prove themselves. For whatever it's worth I'm personally not impressed with Harris.

Her time as a prosecutor raises an eyebrow but isnt an automatic disqualifier. But the mess thast happened in the crime lab right under her nose is. I cant even remember the insane number of cases that were intentionally sabotaged in the crime lab while she was the DA. Harris and her office were ripped to shreds by a judge.

"San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris' office violated defendants' rights by hiding damaging information about a police drug lab technician and was indifferent to demands that it account for its failings, a judge declared."

So not only was she locking brothers up left and right but she was doing it with bogus evidence and fraudulent cases and she knew it. Her inability to do the most basic part of her job is a direct reflection of her leadership skills. I cant roll with that. This shit happened in her office, under her watch and she is accountable.

The time of supporting black people just b/c they look like you is long gone. Black people have to be more sophisticated and intelligent with their votes. The Democrats depend on the ignorance of the black vote. Until black people start holding them accountable they will continue to take the black vote for granted. In the age of mass incarceration Kamala Harris is responsible and must be held accountable for what she allowed to happen in the DAs office.

Thank you for your well researched opinion.

We need more of the data and discourse in these discussions and less of the memes and click bait.

I generally agree with your assessment but I draw different conclusions.

She became a prosecutor and was “locking up brothers [who committed crimes] left and right” to have a seat at the table and make larger scale change; which she actually did in a few important areas. A lot of that gets swept under the rug.

She needs to account for some shit in her past and offer her side if the story. That will end up being a big part of my decision with her. I’ll say this, tho - anyone who has run a team or an organization of 10 or more people; in corporate or otherwise, will tell you that the leader is ultimately responsible, but it is more about how you respond to situations than it is preventing any bad thing from happening. She inherited a lot of those employees and she can’t be everywhere at once. Sometimes, shit happens in large organizations - it’s how you respond. I want to hear her describe and account for that response.

But most importantly I agree with your statement that everyone in the race still needs to prove themselves - worthy or unworthy of our votes.

I’ll be looking closely at each candidate’s agenda and how they can help black America and move the country forward.

I agree that black people need to be much more “sophisticated and intelligent with their votes”.

I believe that is more about taking the emotion out of our decision making while thinking towards the future. And less about finding the candidate with the “purest” record that perfectly aligns with a given epistemology of ideals.

I mostly looking at each candidates past in so much as it impacts their ability to shape the future.

the bolded is my issue. i cant say that all, most, half or even some of the brothers she locked up were committing crimes. i have no clue. nobody does. what we do know is that someone in the crime lab was sabotaging evidence and framing people. the cops knew it, the prosecutors knew and kamala knew it but she did little to nothing about it until she was forced to by the court. she swept that shit under the rug for as long as she could. no one knows exactly when that shit started our precisely how many people were effected. but we do know that she didnt do shit until she was forced.

and her solution was to dismiss ALL the cases that were suspected to be tainted. i understand why she dismissed all of the cases but the end result was that guilty people were allowed to go back on the street. the DAs #1 job is to prove that someone is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law and get them of the street. she ended up doing the exact opposite. there was no exact number and no one really knew how many cases to dismiss so she dismissed all of them and she flooded the streets of frisco with who knows how many guilty people.

so on one hand who knows how many people were sent to jail based on fraudulent evidence that the DA knew was tainted and on the other hand who knows how many dope dealers, killers, rapists, molesters, etc were set loose back into the community b/c she was unable to do the most basic and critical part of her job. that shows incompetence, lack of leadership and a lack of organizational control. that sounds like what we already have in the white house imo. sending an innocent man to prison is just as bad as letting a guilty one walk free. kamala has some explaining to do. she must be held accountable.
