They are but that shit isnt gonna really pop off til after the Multiverse Saga. The concept of Mutants have been introduced, the Thunderbolts is gonna deal with adamantium... the ground work being laid for the future. Mutant Saga will be next and then you'll see less of the Avengers.

No need to spoiler it back cause its ass. The x men get possessed by the phoenix force and Cyclops killed professor x. Comics started to become ass around this time and more than a decade later its seems comics haven't bounced back.
