He’s a very surface level character
Nobody knows shit about yamcha either
Besides getting a haircut and playing baseball there’s nothing new about him throughout an entire show
And the same can be said for many characters

Tell me you havent watched any of the db series without telling me. If you dont know anything about goku as a person, dont know what to tell you.
If you want to know about the human characters, go watch the db series. It was all about them. Why would the retell their story in dbz? They started exploring space where aliens were way powerful than humans.

And there lies the problem, everyone reaching new levels except the day one guys
Characters don’t stop developing or having an arc just because the story expands
He created too many characters and got obsessed with only writing about saiyans

Not every character is meant to reach new levels though. Some characters have to get left behind. Humans in the greater DB universe aren't that powerful. That's just a fact of the world as created. Why should the writers focus on trying to come up with goofy reasons to just the human characters participating in battles that should be well beyond them.

No they don't. lol That's what you're not getting. Relatively speaking, them three dudes is Mr. Satan status. The gap between Satan and them is way smaller than the gap between them and anyone that would be a challenge to the primary protags right now.
Yea because the writer refuses to level them up after the original dragon ball. How is Goku the only person getting stronger from that show then you have the kids surpassing them and they're 7 years old

They weren't leveled up because there was no believable way to level them after a while. Humans just aren't that strong in the DB universe. Once that was established, the human characters were destined to fall away. That's not bad writing just because you have some weird affection for characters that had their time.
And of course the kids surpassed the humans early. Once SSJ was let out of the bag, the kids were destined to blow by the humans quickly.

Characters roles change all the time in stories.
A sequel to a story are gonna have new characters because a new story is being told. Some old characters may be brought back but they wont have the same role cause it is a new story.
Dragonball z was never about them. They had their run in db. Krillin played a major rolls cause he was comic relief and a fan favorite.
