The official COVID-19/Coronavirus Discussion Thread...aka I hope I don't get the Rona

They recommend you get a DTaP booster every ten yrs, especially if your work in Healthcare, old people etc. However if you caught whooping cough(can be misdiagnosed as pneumonia, and the same medication works to get rid of both), you'd be immune for life. Funny how all of the sudden natural immunity is the enemy. And in fact it is, it's now the new thing in the way of the vaccine, can't be having that now.....

Would an 'Immunity' Mandate Instill More Public Confidence?
— Biden's sweeping vaccine mandates will only further erode public trust
by Jesse Pelletier, MDSeptember 20, 2021

The policy lacks the precise language needed to adequately speak to those who understand something about this virus. There now exists the need to make distinctions between categories and eventually degrees of immunity.

The simple classification of vaccinated versus unvaccinated lacks the nuance required to satisfy the scientific mind.

The Biden policy unfortunately continues to ignore other means of acquiring immunity, which may include natural infection and single doses of mRNA vaccine. We cannot turn away from that which has been known all along: this is not a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Many of the unvaccinated have been previously exposed to SARS-CoV-2 or had COVID-19. They have some immunity. This is a pandemic caused by a highly infectious virus that mainly manifests in the immunologically naive. Recent data from Israel continues to build upon the notion that immunity in people who survived a prior SARS-CoV-2 infection is robust and durable -- perhaps even more so than in the unexposed but vaccinated. Ignoring these facts and blindly forging ahead with blunt policies will continue to unravel vital threads of trust that remain in the system.

There is no doubt that vaccination continues to be the single most important strategy to lift us out of this pandemic, and people should not seek out natural immunity. But we must be honest, fair, and open (according to the OECD) in order to maintain trust.

What Biden and others really should require is not proof of vaccination, but rather proof of immunity. This could mean showing a vaccine card, evidence of sufficient antibody levels, or past documented infection. A sufficient antibody level or standard would need to be set and antibody testing would need to be made more accessible.

His whole argument falls apart in "the timing of talking about ivermectin".

It was talked about long before the vaccines as an alternative preventative treatment. The lock downs and "solutions" given to us exacerbated our risks to Covid and no alternative treatment or drugs were offered approved, except Remdesivir which still doesn't show positive results.

I do agree that now that the vaccines are here ivermectin shouldnt be pushed as the better or only solution

US was ahead of donations per COVAX even before this. Other wealthy countries need to do their part.

I mean I get it.. it's nice to help other countries but that's alot of damn money to be spending for the WORLD when home aint even situated...

These assholes are penny pinching and watering down the infrastructure bill.. no student loan forgiveness.. no free community college.. homelessness on the rise.. allll this other shit that needs to be addressed at home..Maybe the way im looking at it is skewed... but the priorities seem off to me

I feel u. If these vaccines actually work though, helping the rest of the world is, in the long run, helping ourselves. There's a reason they came up with the Covax agreement..problem is we seem to be the only nation not only fulfilling our agreement, but going above and beyond to distribute.

If we go through another lockdown all the things u listed could be exacerbated beyond repair or no longer worth considering at that point.

Is it ok to say there’s no proof such and such caused something when the clinical trial was shortened so the data couldn’t be properly studied to show proof?
