That is a piss take. With the trajectory women's football has been on this is a slap in the face.

Ain't no reason for the women's game not to be played in a stadium less than 10k capacity in general.

With that being said, I don't think the Manchester City Academy is 4,700 capacity but rather 7,000.
Also it's already home to Manchester City Women Team so could perhaps see some logic as to why it may have been chosen.

In terms of other stadiums for the tourney, there are 10 hosting across the UK. Of which:

  • 3 are less than 15k capacity
  • 6 are more than 30k capacity
  • 3 are premier league club stadiums (including Manchester United Old Trafford)
  • Wembley stadium is also hosting
In terms of the women's super league, they draw on average very low attendance, like 1k low.
Bigger teams like Chelsea average 3k, to the point where something like this gets celebrated on Twitter

Whilst I definitely think Women's football for Euro 2022 given the international tournament appeal will do numbers, I actually don't think it's being as"disrespected" as initially led to be believed

Subbed in Bennacer and my boy scoring. 2-1. One more push 🔴⚫
