The UK's government isn't the only one that has this stance..

I'll never forgot, at 17, being in a library reading a sociology book and it stated if majority of the kids in a school are on free lunch meals, it indicates that the parents don't highly value the child's well-being, from an education standpoint.

The sentiment is that parents should be able to provide little money or a basic pack lunch to take to school. So the council or whoever finances the school will then make budget cutbacks 'cause 'why should we care as much if the parents don't'.

I immediately had flashbacks, had a lot of Somalians at my school but unfortunately majority of them queued at the free meal line.

Start of yr 10, the school decided to drastically shorten the student's GCSE choices and changed our GCSE science to GNVQ. Some of my Pakistani and Indian middle-class friends changed to nearby schools, as a result, their parents clearly understand the ramifications more so than others.

I think this is a capitalism flaw and i'm no socialist or communist believer.

Summer '01... at one of those Wembley auction houses with my dad and uncle. Spent about 5 weeks worth of pocket money just to say I bought it, even though they both offered to pay for it.

If you're a United supporter, you should be able to match names to the faces.
