Alexis Sanchez is the misfit on £350,000-a-week who Manchester United fear will flop like Angel Di Maria

Manchester United are concerned that Alexis Sanchez is struggling to settle at the club and fear a repeat of the Angel Di Maria fiasco.

Sanchez became the highest-paid player in the Premier League on a total of £600,000 a week when United gazumped rivals Manchester City to sign him from Arsenal in January.

However, the 29-year-old's disappointing form has produced only one goal in 10 games and he was on the bench for the first time when Jose Mourinho's side beat Brighton in the FA Cup last Saturday.

Sanchez, who is preparing with the Chile squad for their internationals against Sweden and Denmark, has a reputation for being single-minded and sullen at times.

However, staff have been surprised by his miserable demeanour at the club's Carrington training ground where he cuts an unhappy, isolated figure and often eats alone in the canteen.

Some say he comes across as a player who is having second thoughts over his decision to join United in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

They have drawn comparisons with Di Maria, who was a British record signing when he moved to Old Trafford for £59.7million in 2014 but joined Paris Saint-Germain in a £44m deal following a dismal season in England.

'He looks like someone who doesn't want to be here,' said a United source on Tuesday night.

'The whole thing doesn't seem right and he looks like a lost boy. It was the same with Di Maria.'

Sanchez tends to chat with the Spanish-speaking players at United and recently moved his family and two dogs from a suite at the Lowry Hotel into Marcos Rojo's old house.

Argentina defender Rojo has revealed that he was alarmed after discovering that the Chile international would be a team-mate.

'Alexis is a great player but we didn't used to get on out on the pitch,' said Rojo.

@Hundredeyes

I heard Justin Kluivert's brother Shane is an even better prospect then him???

Promising player but seeing is believing, they used to say the same about Rodney Sneijder lol.

Difference is pops Kluivert is keeping them grounded and none of them will sign at a big club early cause money ain't a factor for them...it's hard in Holland for the youngsters though - especially Ajax players - they play one good game and the entire nation is hyping them up. They expect to much from them.

Gerard Pique reveals Barcelona and Real Madrid players have WhatsApp group as he denies claims they don't get on: 'We chat s**t to each other'

Gerard Pique has played down claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid stars do not get on by revealing they have a WhatsApp group where they send messages to one another.

There have been regular reports of rifts inside the Spanish national team due to the rivalry between the two clubs, however Pique has poured cold water over such talk.

Pique, writing in his Players' Tribune blog, insists the two sets of players are always aiming banter at each other.

He said: 'I'm going to let you in on a little inside information. Everybody knows that footballers have text groups on WhatsApp. I have one just for my friends from home, and I have another just for my Barca team-mates.

'But my favourite one might surprise you. Earlier this season, when we were already eight or nine points clear of Real Madrid in the league, I started a special group for some of the guys on the Spanish national team who play for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

'If you only read what the media says, you would think that we hate one another. But, in fact, we all get along really well, and we text back and forth about tactics and football philosophies and even the books we're reading.

'No, come on, of course I'm joking! All we do in that group is talk s**t to one another about Barca and Real!

'It's the best. We're just like little kids. And the truth is, it's especially hilarious for me right now, because now we're up 15 points on Real in the league. So I'm getting very creative in my responses.'

Pique will be able to mock his team-mates during the current international break due to Barcelona sitting top of La Liga with Real Madrid languishing in third.

The former Manchester United defender has revealed last season was a struggle as his Spanish counterparts at Real Madrid teased him as they won the title.

He adds: 'Last season, when the Real guys were winning everything, they were feeling pretty good. They were talking s**t constantly whenever I saw them at national team training.

'Man, every time they won a match last season, they were posting shirtless photos on Instagram from the locker room. Remember that?

'They were smiling and flexing their muscles like The Rock and saying #HalaMadrid and posting little trophy emojis. This season, though, it's a different vibe. All their Instagram photos are looking very somber. "3 points today. We must keep working harder!"

'So I'm texting them in the WhatsApp group, "Come on guys, why so serious?!" Then I put a little crying emoji, and a laughing emoji. I even made a special name for the group. It's called: CONGRATULATIONS.'

Yo really good and insightful real - suggest you all go to the link to read whole blog!

https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/gerard-pique-a-long-story

He also talks about the Catalan vote and his views on the whole situation, plus for all you United fans (@Water Ur Seeds @DNB1 @CeLLar-DooR), he talks about his time over there and how much Sir Alex played a major influence on his career and almost shitting himself over a phone incident in the dressing room with Roy Keane!

Personally these stories and anecdotes would have been cool to put into a book, but the guy has done so much in his career from playing under the Barca/Pep era, winning Euro and World Cup etc...he's got enough stories to tell to throw these freebies.

There's other blogs there from Kane and Insigne too....(will read later)
