Deputies: Man plays prank on friend; leads to friend’s arrest on child porn charges

A Florida man is facing child pornography charges after deputies said one of his former co-workers saw obscene pictures of children on his cell phone.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies said they received a call from the friend who said Jody Fletcher, 55, had recently stopped over to visit. When Fletcher left the residence, the caller noticed Fletcher’s cell phone had been left behind.

The caller said he decided to play a joke on Fletcher and make the phone’s wallpaper a photo of the caller.

The caller said he took a picture of himself and proceeded to attempt to change the wallpaper. While accessing the photos, to obtain the photo he took of himself, the caller said he observed numerous images of child pornography.

The caller immediately contacted deputies.

According to an arrest report, approximately 74 images of child pornography were located on the device and three computers were seized from Fletcher’s home.

Fletcher was arrested and faces charges for possession of obscene material and has since bonded out of jail.

Police arrested a 42-year-old southwest Miami-Dade woman Sunday after accusing her of taking over an 11-year-old girl’s online chat account, taking nude photographs of her, then sending them to a teenage boy.

Police arrested a 42-year-old southwest Miami-Dade woman Sunday after accusing her of taking over an 11-year-old girl’s online chat account, taking nude photographs of her, then sending them to a teenage boy.

According to a Miami-Dade police report, the girl told police that in 2020, she began chatting with an unknown 14 or 15-year-old boy on the Discord app.

Police wrote that between the summer of 2020 and her arrest, Guissell Lanning took over the girl’s account and began chatting with the boy herself.

Lanning “would take naked photographs of (the girl) in different positions and sent the photographs (to) the (boy)” and the victim said it happened “often,” according to police.

An alleged confession was redacted in the police report.

Lanning faces two charges of promoting sexual performance by a child, a charge of transmitting harmful material to a minor and a charge of using a computer to seduce a child into engaging in sexual conduct.
