It's funny to me how people cherry pick Tupac out of all 90s rappers as the posterboy for not being lyrical.
Because apparently everyone else was rhyming like Biggie lol.
Tupac has a mic prescence, voice and charisma that remains unmatched.

I would like to think in 2022 if Pac was still alive he would be beyond rapping and focused on acting. That’s just me tho.
Was just about to say this like wtf it's hardly the same genreLol bruh, the top rappers today don't even have coherent lyrics

If niggaz going so crazy and giving all these plaudits to Kendrick, I could imagine how Tupac would dominate in these times cause his stuff was way betterTpain is a dope artist.... But he's wrong
2022 Pac fuck around and drop a "freestyle" over some African drums that's more of a message to black people than an actual song...
Shit wouldn't have punchlines and lyrics and bars and flow and bravado...
But that shit would be thought provoking, inspiring, passionate, and would drop heavy gems and really have niggaz who into his shit bugging the fuck out.....
But given it's 2022, it would prolly be a lotta niggaz not feeling that shit....
Me personally, I would have loved to see him make it this far, I think the art would be crazy....
It be more deep shit than lyrical shit.... And I would be cool with not everybody feeling it
He wasn't very lyrical, but he was one of the most popular while not being lyrical. I mean, if we're really being honest, KRS did a better job of kicking afrocentricity than Pac, Paris def would have killed Pac bar for bar as far as being a Panther-inspired revolutionary is concerned (as did Boots from The Coup). What Pac did was make joints niggas could fuck with emotionally. Think of how "Brenda's Got a Baby" and "If My Homies Call" hit niggas in the feels. Same for ""Keep Ya Head Up" and "Dear Momma". Pac filled a void for hip hop with emotional content other than anger and rage (i.e. Paris) or straight up kickin' knowledge. I have only a handful of joints by dude that I really fucked with: I Get Around, Do For Love, and Changes and each one was because there was something I related to in each one. Niggas in the street don't really know Pac's revolutionary joints, or shit where he's trying to kick some knowledge, but play "Me and My Girlfriend", "California Love", or some shit like that and muhfuckas light up and can kick lyrics right along with it.
I don’t think Rage was ever officially Death Row. Just an affiliate. But yeah the point still standsI'd argue a tie between Kurupt and Rage.
