The bold is a lie. A child doesn't know what its like to lose a child until they are a parent themselves. So what I would be going through ain't the same as what they are going through. A parent that has a sibling or siblings and lost a sibling regardless of it was by natural causes, accident or murder would know what their kids are going through.
IMO its not a selfish decision and everybody in this world has, had and will make selfish decisions sometimes. Some are more selfish than others but to me this really ain't one of them.
