you have to expand then. because as it's worded the interpretation can clearly be taken that way, especially if you apply it to a situation.

if your goal was to fail at a test. then you succeeded in that goal.

no matter how he try to flip it, it's a two part question....

if it's your goal to fail at a marriage, and you fail...you succeed....

you succeeded at your task to fail....
that's the only application to what he's saying as far as i'm concerend
