Y'all making this more difficult then it needs to be. I like some whisky. If I brought a bottle of it and it is unopened at the end, I will just ask "I see this bottle hasn't been touched. Do you want it or can I take it back?". I'm fine with any answer

No. When I bring a bottle, my expectations is that it is not coming back with me. If I see it later, i will ask if they even wanted. I'm fine with yes or no.
