PnB Rock Shot & Killed in LA (RIP)

Stephen Jackson is a complete fool talking about to check in. Okay you check in with the GD's but what about the BD's? What about the Stones? VL's? He think being check in with one gang is going to make him safe overall. He better check in with that All the smoke podcast and stop trying to be a 40 plus gangsta

We have to redefine our culture.
we give street shit too much power to the point dudes that struggled to make it out feels the need to have to come back to be around what he struggled to get away from.
Niggas too busy trying to seem “normal”.
what’s normal?
my normal won’t be your normal. And the epicenter of blackness is not poverty and ignorance. Being from a nice financial family doesn’t make you less black just like these broke ass niggas don’t mean they more black.
shit I’m hyped and re-Inspired today from Pharrell’s speech. To sum it up. At the end of the day the main difference between most people is their support system.Think of how many people speak negative on lives vs positive on this site let alone in real life.
How many times do Niggas just hate to hate?
How many times do people try to taint messages because of what they think is being said?
Shit we got work to do all up and down the spectrum. This situation says so much more than just dint wear jewelry in south central.
to me it does anyway.

I joke about Jay Z a lot being an old ass White man now since he's like a billionaire, why he still rapping about street shit and bricks.

But it's kinda true. A certain level of wealth and power in this country, you are basically a White person.

The bottom of our wealth distribution drives our popular culture and our politics. We aren't like white people where the rich and the middle class drives their culture because the 90 something percent of us are working class and poor.

Being down and all that shit and trying to prove how you ain't changed and you still for the streets is dumb because you are not in that socio-economic position.

You not of that class anymore.

When I made real money the first time, I hung around the same motherfuckers I did in the streets when I was homeless and struggle pimping. Second time I made real money, I really didn't associate with any Black people that weren't family. I left that street shit alone.

When you as a Black American descendant of slaves make the decision and commitment to make a lot of fucking money, you gonna eventually divorce yourself from your people. There ain't no Black people at the top. And if there is, it's most likely an immigrant.

It's mostly White people and Asians.

Everybody at the bottom knows when a motherfucker decides to commit to making a fuck ton of money you gonna have to leave Black people behind.

Not even on no street shit. I'm talking about your neighborhood, your family, your friends...they gonna need shit and ask you to do it because you the lick.

And when you help them and go broke, they gonna be like "damn, you fucked it up" and laugh at your dumb ass.

There's young Black Boomers out there that scrapped and clawed their way to a million dollars taking care of 3 generations. Cousins, grandbabies, nieces, nephews, sister in laws. Still working.

I said that can't be me, fuck that.

White trash motherfuckers and broke ass Asians and Africans abandon entire families and friends and countries when they make it. Change their names, all types of shit. They don't look back.

The pursuit of wealth, influence and power is a lonely ass road and the mythology of never changing and bringing your loved ones with, your neighborhood with you and your people and all that shit is infantile bullshit. It's the shit we fantasize about it because there ain't none of us at the top of the American social order. So we wanna bring people with us, so we won't be lonely.

Iinstead of doing the political work and getting the political education as a collective to change our lives as a people. We think individual pursuits like getting rich and powerful supposed to be a collective thing and it's not. Then be confused when the criminal minded do shit like rob the motherfucker flashing his wealth at Popeyes, like they supposed to be happy that goofy motherfucker got it made just because he Black. That man got babies and baby mommas too, he gotta eat. Lol.

Wealth, influence and power divorces you from your loved ones, your neighborhood, and your people.

Whoa
This needs its own thread

Whoa

I try to talk about it in person but I always said this.

You can't be Black in America and say you love your people and be big multi millionaire or a billionaire.

The best of us, the most talented of us that helped us the most, were poor.

They took a vow of poverty and death.

You gotta be of the people to be able to meet their needs and struggle with them to over the systems and powera that be that subjugate them. That's why charities and NGOs aren't effective at broad social issues.

We don't make them type of Black folk today. Every Black person born from the 60s to now, is in the pursuit of the economic and a higher social status. And if you dedicate yourself to wealth, power and influence there's a wall if you not in entertainment or sports or politics.

We fake all of this, "I love my people shit" because we don't wanna look bad, we don't wanna be coons and sellouts when we'll do anything for the bag. On the hand, being king or queen of the negroes because you are the bank gives you a certain level of cache with the wider society. Because once you get to peak over the wall, you realize you just Black rich.

It's double consciousness type shit.

We individuals man, we ain't been an actual community since the 60s. We just like White people, White people ain't a community either, it's just a lot of White motherfuckers so it looks like they give a fuck about each other. White people just unite to treat non-white groups like shit and they go back to oppressing each other over class.

White men and White women make it out the trailer parks and projects can't go back either. They gonna get robbed by they meth head cousin or some shit.

America is a individualistic, capitalist country. It ain't meant for you to be concerned about your fellow human being. It's meant for you to rise above them.

We tryna hold on the revolutionary potential of Malcom X, MLK, Fannie Lou Hamer, Bobby Sealed and Huey P. Newton and we ain't built like that. We are integrated now. We aspire to be millionaires and billionaires. We aspire to be capitalists. They aspired to have communities. They didn't aspire to leave the neighborhood or the block they came from to escape poverty. They served their people where the fuck they were at. They didn't leave to go to a gated community and then come back have a backpack drive.

You can't do both. You gotta pick.

You don't see LeBron out here walking the streets of Akron, talking about he still down lol. His charity work is amazing but he ain't in them streets, checking in.

I gotta unpack this.
I think this could be a great debate.
Don’t you go no where

If that's what the nigga gotta do to feel safe, why oes that bother you? And how is he trying to be a gangsta by checking in?

They say he was beefing with somebody on ig live the week before... dude was trying to find out if he was in LA and said he'd take his chain off his neck...

Don't play. We already know what he saying when he saying he gotta check in. Let me guess, he checking in with the Buddhist temple of Chicago

That doesn't exactly address my point. He's clearly saying that if checking in is what he has to do to stay say and avoid problems, that's what he's going to do. Why does that bother you?

Asians and certain Africans do actually look back. Like, say you holler at a Filipino broad with fam still in the old country, wife her up and alladat. The next move is for her to start bringing her family over, fuck what you got to say about it and it's prolly gonna be her moms first. Same for some Africans. I have Nigerians in my extended family. Grandfather (by marriage) got a sister that married a Nigerian cat. Him and his son moved over here with her after she spent about two years living there. Next thing we know his momma here, sister here, her kids here and a couple of his cousins; all through him.

Off that:

I do agree with the bulk of what you said, however, no matter how much money you have, you're still a n_gger in them white folks' eyes. Think them billionaire white folks don't call Oprah that shit behind her back? And she low on the billionaire totem pole too??? Yeah, they still callin her every name under the sun.

Same reason how my opinion bothers you. Who is he checking in with?

You opinion doesn't bother me. It just doesn't make sense to me. Let's say he's checking in with street niggas he knows because he believes that's what's necessary to avoid trouble. What exactly is it about him doing that that bothers you? I'm not sure why this is such a hard question to answer.
