Parkland, FL High School Shooting/The March For Our Lives Thread

Why? What does asking our oppressors to help us exactly accomplish? More police presence when we already have valid reason NOT to trust the police patrols in our communities?

What the fuck you talking bout bruh.

I quoted a picture of black ppl and said I’m glad the kids are leading the way you go right back to white ppl.

Parkland Teacher Who Volunteered to Be Armed at School Left Loaded Gun in Men’s Room, Cops Say

A teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida was arrested for allegedly leaving a loaded gun in a public men’s room. This comes after the teacher, Sean Simpson, had volunteered to arm himself at school as a security measure after the recent shooting that killed 17 people.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Simpson said he left the Glock 9mm in a men’s room stall at the Deerfield Beach Pier by accident. He said he eventually realized he had left the weapon behind, and went back to get it, only to hear a gunshot. He said that when he reentered the men’s room, he saw that a man he believed to be drunk and homeless was holding the weapon. Simpson then took the gun back from the man, identified as Joseph Spataro, 69.

Deputies responded to the scene after a witness fled from the area, according to the local ABC affiliate. Spataro reportedly told deputies that he fired the gun to see if it was loaded.

Simpson was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of failing to safely store a firearm, and was released after posting $250 bond. Spataro was charged with trespass and firing a weapon while intoxicated.

The teacher told the local station that he didn’t think carrying a weapon violated school rules. A school board spokesperson said that Simpson is not facing discipline.

Simpson, who has in the past worked on class projects with student activists Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, has reportedly supported students’ efforts towards stricter gun control. Meanwhile, on Tuesday the school board voted against the proposal to arm teachers.

Over the past 10 years, a growing online community of conspiracy theorists and hoaxers known as “truthers” has come to question the official narratives behind every mass shooting that is heavily covered by the media. A common thread in these theories is the government’s role in staging the tragedy with the help of mainstream news, in order to manipulate the general population. In this continuously recycled narrative, the death and destruction of the tragic event is faked, and victims and their families are “crisis actors,” who are performing a role in order to elicit sympathy that can then be used to advocate for new gun laws, or anti-terror surveillance that restricts Americans’ freedom. The commitment to these narratives has escalated to the point where victims are frequently harassed, mocked, and even threatened in retaliation for their supposed deception

NRA Pres. Oliver North: Gun Control Proponents Engaging in ‘Civil Terrorism’ Not Seen Since ‘Days of Jim Crow’

Newly-named NRA president Oliver North suggested this week that gun control activists are engaging in “civil terrorism” and compared the push for gun control to the “days of Jim Crow.”

North made the comparison during an exclusive interview with the Washington Times. The statement came not long after gun control activists showed up outside of an NRA executive’s house in Virginia and splashed fake blood on it.

“They call them activists. That’s what they’re calling themselves,” North told the Times.

“They’re not activists — this is civil terrorism. This is the kind of thing that’s never been seen against a civil rights organization in America,” North added. The new NRA president cited former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens recently suggesting a repeal of the Second Amendment.

“You go back to the terrible days of Jim Crow and those kinds of things —even there you didn’t have this kind of thing. We didn’t have the cyberwar kind of thing that we’ve got today,” North said.

North added, “They can do all the cyberwar against us — they’re doing it. They can use the media against us — they are. They’ve gone after our bank accounts, our finances, our donors, and obviously individual members.”

“It’s got to stop. That’s why the leadership invited me to become the next president of the NRA,” North told the Washington Times.

Facing Student-Led, Anti-NRA ‘Die-In,’ Publix Suspends Political Donations

Publix, the popular grocery chain whose stores dot the Southeastern United States, announced Friday that it would suspend corporate campaign donations.

The announcement came just before survivors of the February gun massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School led a “die-in” protest at two Publix locationsnear the school, an attempt to pressure the company to end its financial support for Adam Putnam, an NRA-friendly Republican primary candidate for Florida’s governorship.

“At Publix, we respect the students and members of the community who have chosen to express their voices on these issues,” the company said in a statement Friday. “We regret our contributions have led to a divide in our community. We did not intend to put our associates and the customers they serve in the middle of a political debate. At the same time, we remain committed to maintaining a welcoming shopping environment for our customers.”

“We would never knowingly disappoint our customers or the communities we serve. As a result, we decided earlier this week to suspend corporate-funded political contributions as we re-evaluate our giving processes.”

The Tampa Bay Times reported earlier this month that Publix — together with the individual donations of its founder’s heirs and those of the company’s current and former leadership — had “given more money to Adam Putnam’s gubernatorial bid than any other candidate since at least 1995 and likely for the entirety of the company’s history.”

The chain also donated money to business groups that in turn supported Putnam’s campaign, the report said. Putnam, in his current role as commissioner of agriculture, oversees health inspections of the grocery chain in Florida, the paper noted.

The Times said Friday that Publix released its statement “moments before” the staged die-in.

Putnam last year called himself “a proud #NRASellout!”

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), likely Putnam’s closest competition in the Aug. 28 primary election, responded to the news Friday by calling the protesters “left-wing agitators.”

Bending over backwards for those white kids I see.

This.

Real shit, I cant bring myself to shed tears over this. Is it fucked up, yes. But none of them give two fucks about our kids dying single everyday. There's no corporate statements, no hashtags, no political push, no nothing. It's just business as usual.

The thing these white kids are so distraught over happen daily in every hood across the country. There was no public outcry from them when our churches were being shot up. Their crazy ass kids that they love to pamper and hate to discipline have come home to roost. It is what it is.

Chilling video has emerged showing the suspected gunman who killed 17 people and wounded 17 more at a Florida high school in February bragging about his plans to carry out the massacre. ‘When you see me on the news you’ll know who I am,’ Nikolas Cruz says while laughing creepily in three separate clips recorded on his cell phone. ‘You’re all going to die. Pew pew pew. I can’t wait.’ The video clips were released by Florida prosecutors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — For more than a year, Florida failed to do national background checks that could have disqualified people from gaining a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

The lapse, revealed in an internal report that was not widely known about until Friday, occurred during a time period when there was a significant surge in the number of people seeking permission to legally carry a concealed weapon. Florida does not allow the open carry of weapons, but more than 1.9 million have permits to carry guns and weapons in public if they are concealed.

The state ultimately revoked 291 permits and fired an employee blamed for the lapse after an inspector general’s report detailing the problem was sent in June 2017 to top officials in the department who oversee the program. The Tampa Bay Times was the first to publish information about the report, which pointed out that the state failed to check the National Instant Criminal Background Check System from February 2016 to March 2017.

Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, a Republican running for governor who has touted his efforts to make it easier for people to obtain concealed-weapons permits, said the state did conduct its own criminal background checks on those applying for permits during that time period.

Putnam blamed the problem on the negligence of a department employee.

“The former employee was both deceitful and negligent, and we immediately launched an investigation and implemented safeguards to ensure this never happens again,” Putnam said in a statement.

McKinley Lewis, a spokesman for Republican Gov. Rick Scott, said the governor’s office was never provided a copy of the inspector general’s report.

Democrats and gun control advocates quickly criticized Putnam over the incident and said he should resign. Putnam has raised the ire of gun control advocates for his proclamation last year that he was a “proud NRA sellout” who supports the National Rifle Association. He also said that he would not have signed the new gun and school safety law enacted by the Florida Legislature in the aftermath of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

“Career politicians like Mr. Putnam think this is just another bad day at the office — but when you conceal a level of negligence that endangers every resident, and every child, in Florida, you forfeit any moral right to lead,” said former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, one of the Democratic candidates running for governor.

The state used the national system to see if there were reasons such as mental illness or drug addictions that should prevent someone from being issued a concealed-weapons permit. But in March 2017 an investigation was triggered after a state employee noted that the state was not getting any correspondence from people whose applications had been rejected due to information gleaned from the national database.

The final report issued in June 2017 states that an employee in the Division of Licensing did not run applications through the national system because she couldn’t log into the database. The employee is quoted in the report as saying that she “dropped the ball.”

The Times interviewed the employee, Lisa Wilde, who told them she was working in the mailroom when she was given oversight of the database in 2013.

“I didn’t understand why I was put in charge of it,” Wilde told the newspaper.

Statistics compiled by the department show that from the summer of 2015 to the summer of 2017, the number of new applications for concealed-weapon permits jumped dramatically, to its highest level in 25 years.
