You know why no Futbol club can declare themselves world champions? Because they have a world cup every 4 years and a different national team wins it every friggin time. When Jokic, Luka, Siakim, etc. leave to play in their countries leagues then maybe there's an actual point to be made that isn't pedantic in nature. But until then? Enough with the participation trophy nonsense.
Is anyone actually trying to argue that the best team in the NBA is not the best team in the world? No? Then its an argument over semantics and disingenuous, at best.

I don't disagree with you at all, but when the U.S. lost the Olympics in 2004, I bet that had a lot of people in the world feeling like you couldn't just assume the best team in the U.S. was better than everyone else in the world. On paper, that U.S. Olympic team should have been better than the Pistons team that won the championship that year, and yet that Olympic team got beat by three different teams in those games.
