WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg Brian James left World Wrestling Entertainment today, PWInsider.com has learned.

The word making the rounds is that he made the decision to leave his position on the company's creative team, where he had been working on the Smackdown brand.

PWInsider.com has received emails asking about a story being passed around that WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg Brian James exited the company as part of a "creative readjustment."

That is incorrect.

As we reported earlier today, James quit the company earlier today. We are told James did so in person.

WWE sources have cited that James openly expressed his unhappiness and tendered his resignation from the creative team.

James was not let go and nothing that happened today was a result of WWE removing him. In fact, it was the exact opposite. He walked away from the job.

For those those asking about WWE World putting meet and greets up for James in Vegas on sale today (the timing of which is, indeed, ironic), when we asked about that, we were reminded James is under a WWE Legends deal that would be separate from his former employment for the company and it's entirely possible he will still make those appearances.

I would be surprised if James didn't hit the convention and independent scene running, where he would be in demand for appearances and certainly a New Age Outlaws reunion would be well received by convention fans as well.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.comprovided additional details about James’ departure…

“James got his annual review. The belief is that he wasn’t happy with it and left. He may say he left over something else and only he would know exactly why he did so. But it was his decision and it came after his annual review. One person close to the situation said that it has been brewing.”

James leaving WWE is said to be unrelated to Alexandra Williams being promoted to Vice President/Lead Writer for WWE RAW despite both stories breaking on the same day.
