Powerhouse Hobbs is done with AEW, but don't expect him in WWE today.
Hobbs' AEW deal expired at midnight on January 15, making him a free agent and eligible to appear anywhere. Hobbs' last AEW match will air on Collision on January 17, where he drops the Trios Titles. This opened up the possibility of Hobbs appearing on WWE Smackdown while still on AEW TV. That doesn't look to be happening, unless there's a vignette of some sort.
Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp was told that Hobbs was not scheduled to travel to Europe to the site of WWE Smackdown this week. He also wasn't slated to be backstage today, either. Realistically, WWE could have flown him in yesterday to appear on the show today, but that didn't happen.
Hobbs is expected to sign with WWE if he hasn't already. There are reports that WWE was looking to bring him in recent months, but WWE has actually maintained interest for years in Hobbs.
