Official Wrestling News Thread

WWE fired 18 wrestlers just a couple weeks ago, and now Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that several more have been released tonight. Here is the list of names that he included:

  • John Morrison
  • Top Dolla
  • Ashante Adonis
  • Isaiah Swerve Scott
  • Tegan Nox
  • Drake Maverick
  • Shane Thorne (SLAPJACK)
  • Jaxson Ryker
John Morrison has been presented as a low card comedy act ever since he returned to WWE nearly 2 years ago, and he has done nothing except meditate backstage on Raw ever since The Miz recently turned on him.

After firing B-Fab two weeks ago, WWE completed the ouster of Hit Row (Top Dolla, Ashante Adonis, Isaiah Swerve Scott) by now cutting every remaining member of the group. This is one the most perplexing main roster call ups in WWE history, I would imagine, given they were just drafted to SmackDown last month and given a bunch of video packages hyping up their arrival.

Jaxson Ryker posted a dumb and bad tweet before eventually turning babyface and mostly disappearing from television after his feud with Elias ended.

Drake Maverick won the 24/7 title on a recent episode of Raw.

Tegan Nox came back from two devastating knee injuries and was eventually called up to the main roster as part of a tag team with Shotzi, but they were split up in October’s draft.

SLAPJACK had the greatest match in the history of our sport, but WWE doesn’t seem to care.

Sapp followed up by saying that WWE’s Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis cited budget cuts as the reason for these releases.

We’ll keep you updated on this story as more develops,

I’m not watching survivor series this weekend. Probably gonna take off Raw off my DVR and NXT is about to get that’s same treatment. Looking like smackdown and AEW for now

Yeah think I'm done with NXT altogether myself will check for SS but my Peacock sub is done afterwards fuck War Games. I haven't had RAW on DVR in like 3 yrs. WWE is fucking over a lot of ppl with the "budget cuts" releases. I say about 2-3 names on that list deserves to truly be released.

At this point keep WWE 2K22. Seriously.

Agreed. At this point if I were in charge at 2K, I would release 2K22 in March but I would also tell Vince to go find another publisher afterwards b/c I would tear up or find a way to throw out the contract.

I know the developers working on the game are tired like legit tired of the bullshit b/c they probably have to erase ppl from the game and figure other shit out.

Yeah I think imma skip SS.

I can't cosign what they've been doing. Especially wit HR. I'm legit pissed right now.

Swerve will find another gig quickly but I'm not sure about the other three members of that group. I read the two black dudes in NXT had a main roster try out recently, that's a nail in their coffin if they are called up

I wish they would just keep it 100 and just say they watch because it's a great pro wrestling show and they enjoy it but I get the business lol..

I still remember when one of the refs was let go 6 months ago and he said alot of WWE talent will watch AEW together in the locker room and we're legit fans of the product and a second official had confirmed it was true. I thought it was dope.

Most of them are friends wit each other anyway. So it's not a shock they watch either. Especially if you see WWE releasing some...and watchin them becoming more successful at AEW or another brand.

Seriously though does any of y'all watch Succession? WWE and Vince on some Waystar Logan Roy shit heavy right now. It's crazy that's this actually real life and people are too pussy to tell Sleepy Vince that he is deranged and out of touch. Seriously fuck WWE man.

And btw I wish Top Dolla all of his future success. I actually fucked with his loyalty and his approach to rap like rapper being loyal to his set.

This isn't no "karma" or whatever white closet racists are saying on Twitter. Dude was just riding for his brand and was trying to make Hit Row blow using alittle controversy online. Folks be taking this shit so personal and seriously.

Hoping all Hit Row form up again and dominate to the top. We need black representation and their lane on the industry instead of the "dancing happy black guy" shit we constantly see with black wrestlers all the time.
