More as we confirm.

I didn’t realize that this is the guy who is the head writer from RAW that has been helping with Smackdown recently…and he’s black! Not only that, he’s the only black guy in the room. And ironically Smackdown has been a better show since he got on board.

They need to get these old outdated and expired white men outta here. There’s an extreme need for new diverse voices. I just seen a clip of Bruce Pritchard pitching to have had McAfee to go over Gunther! This nigga is a remaining remnant of Vince man lol

Yea Ward was heading up SD in 2016 when they were doing good and he was a head writer for NXT at one point I didnt know he was black tho. they need to give him the ball and bring in a whole new team for him to work with tell Pritchard or Road Dogg to fk off somewhere

For those who have asked about Rusev and The Street Profits not being on TV of late, PWInsiderElite.com is told it's just a decision to make sure talents who aren't in the primary mix at the moment aren't being wasted, so they can be fresh when they are back on TV with a new story, nothing more.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of talents who are ready to head back home as the European tour is winding up. It was a very long few weeks for the rosters but one person pointed out that the longer tour allowed younger talents in the locker room to bond with veterans in a way that being in and out for TV doesn't do, since they are all together for a longer period of time, staying in the same hotels and traveling on tour buses between cities for an extended amount of time.

There are also a lot of people within the company very happy for Natalya Neidhart getting her heel turn on Raw last night and a new storyline going forward, PWInsiderElite.com is told.

Among those we've heard from the feeling is that as one of the most well respected veterans in the company, Neidhart has more than "deserved" a chance to utilize the character she's been portraying in AAA and in GCW Bloodsport appearances.

We heard from a few who are hopeful this new direction clicks and she gets a more prominent role.

There are a lot in the company who have pointed out all that Natalya and TJ Wilson do to offer others the chance to train and get better at their Dungeon Academy in Florida, never asking for money to train there but giving everyone a place to work at improving their in-ring performances

Trey Miguel is no longer in AEW after he was released last week.

Fightful confirmed the news over the weekend, and more details have emerged. It was confirmed to us that the word relayed to Miguel is that it was a decision above AEW, heavily implied to be a WBD decision. To be very specific, we were told it was in relation to a post that Miguel made in 2020 that was homophobic in nature, of which he immediately apologized for. We were told that there were no additional posts or situations that were said to have factored into that reason provided, outside of online speculation.

The reaction inside AEW was one of frustration, as Miguel and the Rascalz have good relationships in the company. There were a number of wrestlers who felt like there were standards applied to AEW talent that don’t apply to other personalities who have appeared on WBD properties. There were countless examples provided of prominently featured WBD names that had made controversial comments and weren’t thrown off the air or prevented from getting deals.

It was constantly reiterated that there was nobody in AEW that got him fired. When we reached out to TNA sources, they said that there haven’t been any problems with him in the company. We've not found a single contact in AEW so far in favor of him being released.

Fightful has reached out to a number of WBD contacts on and off the record, one of which replied on background.

“I can’t speak to the validity of rumors, but I can’t say I agree the decision if tru,” they said. “If it were an unhealthy pattern of behavior, that’s cause for alarm, but that does not seem to be the case here.”

Seems odd that a relatively unknown talent like Miguel would have someone in the WBD executive office searching for dirt and then holding it against him to this extreme. It sounds personal considering Zachary Wentz had the controversial past (nazi related) that got him released from WWE but was not also released.

Didnt Sammy GuTheory once say he would r*pe Mercedes? AEW found out about that, suspended him and he's still employed to this day. Kinda crazy work right here

Hilarious that a gimmick that started wit him...completely turned into a legit character who's now over af in WWE and AAA.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that all signs are that if/when Netflix acquires Warner Bros. Discovery, AEW PPVs are expected to remain on HBO Max thanks to existing contracts. AEW has a deal to air on TBS and TNT through the end of 2027 with an option through 2028 if WBD (or Discovery, post-sale) wish to extend. It's also surmised that perhaps the PPV streaming rights could end up on not just HBO Max but also a new streaming service that Discovery will launch after they split off from WBD. AEW is not expected to land on Netflix post-sale as WWE has an exclusivity clause in their deal.

The Hollywood Reporter article also noted that WBD is believed to own 9% of AEW, which is something that neither side has ever publicly confirmed or denied.

Tommaso Ciampa took to his Instagram to announce his impending exit from WWE:

"In the very near future, my contract with the WWE will officially come to an end. I'd like to thank every single person who contributed to the last ten years of this incredible journey... camera crew, ring crew, hair and makeup team, seamstresses, referees, creative, producers, catering crew, commentators, ring announcers, travel department, medical team, talent reps, and anybody I may have missed.

A very special thank you to all of the men and women who I've shared a ring and locker room with... nothing but love and respect. And I would be remiss not to give a special thank you to my black and gold family. You will forever hold an incredibly special place in my heart. To the fans who have shown love and support over the last two decades... thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To my wife and daughter: you are my rock and my forever "why". I love you more.

I spent the first decade of my career traveling the world on the independent scene. I spent the second decade of my career traveling the world with WWE. I have one decade remaining and I'm beyond excited for whatever challenges lie ahead.

I'm an incredibly lucky person, one of the few who has spent his entire adult life living out his childhood dream... and while that dream continues to evolve, I will continue to chase it.

With that said, for the first time in over ten years, I am available for all appearances, signings, photo ops, seminars, movies, tv appearances, fitness collaborations, sponsorships and so forth. Please email any inquiries to: [email protected]"

With WWE Smackdown and Saturday Night's Main Event headed for Canada this weekend in Montreal, PWInsider.com is already being asked about rumors of Chris Jericho appearing on Smackdown, given his Canadian roots.

Don't expect it.

Jericho is advertised to perform this Friday 1/23 at The Anaheim Arena at JAMM Night, a free concert slated as part of this year's National Association of Music Merchants gathering.

We are told Jericho is expected to be at NAMM for the remainder of the weekend, so unless there's a last second change, he'll be in the Los Angeles area, not at Smackdown or SNME.
