My luck in this sauna has been shit this week. I said I don’t pray in response to someone’s question and I got looks of disgust.
 
Was wondering reddit and saw this comment that i had to look up, "Best selling independant album is Smash by The Offspring" . Turns out shit is true & i have this album somewhere. I got it when i was a kid.

Peaking at number four on the US Billboard 200, Smash has sold over eleven million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling album released by an independent record label; it was also the first Epitaph release to obtain gold and platinum status.

During high school, Holland was the best student in mathematics in his year, and he found it "just as exciting as punk rock."[4] He then attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a B.S. degree in biology and an M.S. degree in molecular biology, and was a candidate for a Ph.D. in molecular biology.[5] However, after the success of The Offspring, he suspended his candidature to focus on music. In an interview in 1995, Holland had said when he turns 40, he would rather be a professor at a university than play music
Holland was a doctoral student at the Laboratory of Viral Oncology and Proteomics Research, Keck School of Medicine, where he was supervised by Professor Suraiya Rasheed. In March 2013, Holland and co-authors published a paper in PLoS One regarding microRNA in HIV genomes, titled "Identification of Human MicroRNA-Like Sequences Embedded within the Protein-Encoding Genes of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus". ... TL;DR: Lead singer was in medschool at USC, stopped going when his band took off. Then eventually went back, got his Ph.D and is working on a cure for HIV.
