From what I've seen, for the most part, the people who get "promoted" aren't the ones who are the most qualified for the job.


They tend to be the ones who can talk a good game and kiss up to the managers and other higher--ups.


Going to lunch with them, hanging out with them outside of work, making small talk about the family, etc.
