There definitely seems to be a lack of West Coast artists popping compared to NY and the South...
Like there are tons of grimey East Coast rappers out now dominating, GxFR is a movement, BSF, 38 Spesh, Ransom, Che, RJ Payne, ElCamino, Rome, OT etc but there seems to be a real lack of popping West Coast rappers... Granted theyre not all young but the East Coast are flooding hip hop, overground and underground...
You got the big dudes like Crook, Kendrick and SchoolBoy Q but YG isnt popping like he was, Boogie and Vince have gone quite too... There was one young dude 'Doggystyle' that seemed to be making a noise a year or so ago but Ive not heard from him in ages... I partly think its too many dudes trying to do drill and also beefing...
Look back to the 00's there were tons of young West Coast dudes on the come up with a real west coast vibe too... Nip, Crook, Glasses Malone, Ya Boy, Bishop Lamont, Jay Rock, Quiz, Spider Loc, 40 Glocc, Slim the Mobster even The Game was breaking through to be a mainstream star...
