this is the product of stolen land and stolen money and inheritances.

it was a time white people feared black people and would move out when we came.......

how times have changed.

used to get chased by the KKK now we getting chased out by hipsters.

same thing happening in charlotte and every major city across the us...

its messed up but its the people that make the community not the location..they took us from africa and look at the culture we recreated..
we will be 👍

My bad .... in Paris the “ lower income”/projects are located outside of the metropolitan area and the city.... this is by design
Them shits is wild. But affordable kinda.
Affordable for us but not by the locals
Can’t say I didn’t feel safe but it was dudes that looked mad outta place that mighta got ran up on in the states

Exactly that is one of the other problems I was speaking about spoke about before. That might actually be the biggest problem if folks want to be honest

I seen a sister and brother lose their daddy house because they didn’t want to sell to their cousins they didn’t like. She wanted to buy but since that wasn’t an option because they didn’t want to sell.

So she offered a way for all 3 of them to win with renovations. And the brother and sister was so dumb and broke They let the shit rot and got the shit condemned.

Speak on it bruh.

Whats the others

I can only speak for what I've seen living in DC.

First is what Elzo mentioned. Losing properties owned by folks parents and grandparents all because they didn't know about paying property taxes or refusing to pay the property taxes.

Also not valuing where we live at. So many people who lived and grew up DC back in the day thought that moving into PG county with their "good" gov't job was a come up and showing other black people who still live in the city that they got money now . I've heard many of them speak on how they feel fucked up seeing what the house they grew up in is now selling for.

Also some just selling the house for a quick check but completely undervaluing the house. They didn't and don't care because their grandparents or parents bought the house and paid off the mortgage. So they feel like any couple thousand they see is a finesse move not even realizing they one who really got finessed in the long run.

It's more but those are some of the biggest I see very often.

We play a part in our own displacement from gentrification but rarely do we speak on it among ourselves. So its like we having a conversation with our people but lying to our people at the same time because we not speaking on the whole truth of the situation we putting ourselves in.

It's not all our fault at all but we have to acknowledge the part we playing in it to stop it and move forward.

I've seen the bold to and now the person in moving in and out of apartments every few years when they had a home already paid for that just needed to be maintained and pay the property taxes. White folks got that house now for pennies on the dollar.

Some new townhomes going up in my old neighborhood starting in the low to mid 600s. I do ok but I feel fucked up that I can't live back in my old hood if I wanted to and if I could afford it I'd be what the older folks called "house poor".
