Drake is a hip hop/rap pop artist a Hip Pop artist

He mostly makes good to great music for many genres.

Now seeing it from Mos Def's view and him being a 90's NY underground hip hop legend who ran with ppl like The Native Tongue and what not,I get what he's saying

In his era Drake would have been considered an ultra commercial artist and a sell out.

There's really no equivalent to Drake in Mos Def's era really musically.

You could say artists like Ja Rule,Nelly,Wayne,and Kanye and a few others were pre cursers to Drake's sound.

I don't agree with him,but I get why somebody like him would say that.

When you hear more of the interview it gets way deeper than commercial vs underground or pop vs artistic
