J Cole can drop and while it’s anticipated you’re kidding yourself if you think it’s failure would be on the same level as Drakes next solo album failing.

After everything that’s happened the last nearly two years Drake gotta come out swinging. The album with PartyNextDoor last year was just proof that his loyal listeners will still consume whatever forgettable music he shits out. This solo album is the real test.

It’s Cole. He pussied out of the battle. Gibbs, Joey Badass and others all shot at him last year. He’s been screaming “the Fall Off” for a half decade now. Cole on some ICE shit, protecting his peace and being a dad. Fuck all that. Drop the album nigga. He better be shooting too.

Im confused by this. He has the most listeners. EVER. Why does it have to be more than good enough for anyone outside of that group for it to not be seen as "failed to deliver" ?

Like is he supposed to try and not cater to the loyal listener? And cater to people that don't fuck with him? Im genuinely confused.
 
They’re facing different kind of pressure. More pressure for a good album definitely Cole imo.

I think there’s pressure for Drake numbers wise because he has a standard there but I don’t think so musically. There’s been lines drawn in the sand in terms of Drake, the people that like Drake are gonna like the album. And the people that don’t like him won’t. The streamers that are team Drake will love it. The Streamers that are anti Drake will dub it. Basically same cycle since ML/Scorpion where he started leaning more playlist. The only real pressure on Drake is first week, billboard and all that type of stuff not looking crazy.

Cole has pressure musically. More than he’s had in the past. He announced this album 4+ years ago. The feature run adds pressure to continue that level on the album. Shit naming it “The Fall Off” is already pressure then you add how post April 2024 has been for him. Not to mention both The Off Season and Might Delete Later were both released as basically the lite shit to just feed fans until the main course “the fall off comes”and both of those were dope. So essentially you set this up to having to be better than both of those as well since this is the culmination.
