The ending was cool. The group's breakup felt anti-climactic though. Like it didn't really seem like anybody needed to leave the group to do the things they were going to do.

That was more so on a few of the actors saying that they only wanted to do these movies if James Gunn was directing. And I think Zoe said she was just off that shit for the 2023 and beyond, no matter what.

Idk about that. It makes sense that Mantis would depart (temporarily or permanently) to discover herself and her purpose. Somebody has to take care of Knowhere and the kids there. Gamora found her family with the Ravagers and not the Guardians (who she doesn't really know). Peter felt the need to come home after so much time away
The most forced shit would have been putting Peter and Gamora back together. But Quill finally accepted that the alternate Gamora is not his Gamora

He's more or less child-like in GOTG3. My assumption is that he was just released from his birthing pod not long before the movie starts so he's still got a lot to learn.
