Mister
Ignorance can be remedied. Stupidity is incurable.
I don't understand why you all are making a simple concept difficult. Duke said it can't create something from nothing.
Erasure is not the same as creation. Bringing darkness to the universe equates to the erasure of light not the creation of darkness.
Turning a bullet into a bubble is to change the reality of that bullet--ie. REPLACE a bullet with a bubble. Not to create a bubble from nothing. If you're to create these resources, to provide for the entirety of the universe from what is already a finite well of supplies, then that DOES NOT/WOULD NOT solve your problem.
Thus Thanos' rationale.
If you want to limit the gauntlet to not being able to create resources from nothing, what's stopping waste from being transformed back into resources?
Thanos's rationale doesn't really hold up to scrutiny when he has the power to create many other solutions besides killing half the universe.
I liked his motivation from a movie standpoint though. I was expecting the "impress Death" motive. I don't watch these movies to nitpick them all out of control. Takes the fun out of it.
