cool huh?

I like my pancakes cut in swirls
Moroccan moles and undercover squirrels

I like cartoons, southern cities with large moons
Faith healers, ex-female drug dealers and art booms
Apologize for my weird mix
What taste like hot dogs and tear drips

And looks like pantomime and clear bricks
And smells like shotguns and deer piss

so many levels man...im really suprised at your cavalier attitude towards this

I could go on and on about the parallels rapped in prisoner 1 & 2, but you not interested in that, but i tell you one thing, that song runs fucking laps around Coles "tales of 2 cities"

What was special about those bars? What was clever about those bars?

I know you know what a mural is, so I wont insult your intelligence there, but the concept is a pretty straight one. He is talking about all the things that embodies him as a person, and describing it as if it was some big ass mural.

this part talks about his childhood, eating breakfast watching saturday morning cartoons

I like my pancakes cut in swirls
Moroccan moles and undercover squirrels

Lupe always talks about his affinity for the south, mainly Texas, as evidenced by the song "hip hop saved my life" which was loosely based on Bun B. He talks about his infatuation with chicks who in the dope game, as evidenced by multiple references in previous works, but more notably, "gold watch" off the cool. And the art boom shit is about him getting delving more into art as evidenced by him using a project he worked on as the cover for "tetsuo and youth"

On the surface, someone might think, what in the world does all this have in common? Lupe's reply is simply nothing. Apologize for my weird mix though.

Do you think hot dog water and tear drips taste the same? I do. They both salty. You and Claffy Duck go on and on about how salty he is of other rappers success and why he cant get the recognition, which is one end of the spectrum, or it could be the perceived hate he feels he gets from people who dont like his music as them being salty.

You know what Pantomine performance is? Clear bricks? man...He does another couple of bars after this about salty references.

I hate to be the nigga to say it, but that shit's trash. Nobody outside of his fanbase gives af about what type of breakfast he likes as a kid and if u have to know that to understand his wack ass bars, the shit's trash. That breakdown can literally be done with any rapper who talks about himself and what he likes.

These are real bars:

see...once again, you fail to connect with what the song is about

its a mural goldie

damn brah

you never did one of these projects in school where you had to make one that included the shit you liked as a kid?

and if any rapper could do it, why havent they?

I fuck with Lupe.. I dont know if I'm in the mental space right now to be googling/researching shit just to know wtf he's talking about after listening to his music just so I can properly enjoy it.

To Goldies point... the music he used to make was much more accessible. I aint asking for dude to "dumb it down"... but dont make shit too convoluted either.. Lupe used to know what that sweet spot was to make some shit that sounds great and still have a message/deeper meaning behind it.

From listening to this album he still has the capability to do so.. more often than not he likes to go off on the deep end tho far as I can tell.. but im not as big a fan as some of yall of him

It's crazy yall can be impressed by the rain/reign bars in mural after hearing his rain/reign bars/scheme on the song I just posted in the first verse.

Mural bars were lazy in comparison. It's clear as day imo.

I swear, if Goldie just made statements like this instead of the stuff he be posting, these threads wouldn't make it past 4 pages

I can appreciate this pov. I happen to like the treasure hunts as Goldie put it, but I can appreciate the lesser convoluted stuff as well

Inori is a cool ass nigga and doesn't like to hurt niggas feelings.

"But I do!"

fuck it

if you think just any rapper could do this, you trolling

you can tell who didnt play double dragon

Nothin was special about that song fam. Nigga did 16 bars naming vogue and yoga poses smh. This nigga can literally fart on a track and yall niggas will call it a classic.

Lupe went to Atlantic b/c Jay was supposed to go there to be the President...hmmm

lol I dont get why yall diehard fans just dont listen to the shit now.. You already gonna cop/support so who cares?

i want to preserve the album the way it was intended to be listened to

I'm in no hurry

I can wait

Thank you for your objectivity
