Finally got a chance to listen to this album. Its a step up from the Carter Iv but still not very good. I'd give it a 5.5/10

Stand out tracks
Don't Cry
Mona Lisa
Took his time

I left you and the other geeks alone in the lupe thread fam, don't force my hand.

Fuck your hand, nigga. Ain't none of us in that thread say something as ridiculous as "Lupe has 3 classics."

Your assessment is that the landscape of hip-hop would be drastically different without Wayne's albums. No. The landscape would be different without Wayne (I'd argue it would be better, but that's neither here nor there.)

Wayne has no albums that did what a Get Rich or Good Kid did. Blueprint or a Illmatic. Maybe in your head they did, but in the real world they did not. C1 and C2 are 4/4.5 type albums. That's as far as it goes.

Bruh, there's a whole slew of nerd niggas on here callin Lupe albums classics.

Nobody other than Pac and Rakim has had more of an impact on the sound of hip hop than Wayne, don't talk to me about impact.

The nigga listening to albums about an under water world with lobster as friends tryin to tell me about the real world?

I'm halfway through C2 and it's definitely the superior album so far. C1 still knocks from front to back tho.
The reason why I rank C1 out of C2 is the chemistry out of Wayne and Mannie. I had listened to Wayne rap on Mannie beats since the mid 90s. To see the growth from the few tracks he was on from The Bg'z, Hot Boys albums, Big Tymers, BG, Juvenile and the outside features and his solo albums up to that point it was like watching somebody come from the area and made it. C2 is a great album, was the stamp like I'm here and I do this shit, respect me.

Over halfway done with C3 and like i thought

C2>>C1>>C3

This my first time listening to the carters back to back to back.

Yea C4 was solid, but he was married to back to back punchlines and not really saying shit. To hear that album then play C5, it's 2 completely different Waynes. His maturity and introspective style on C5 is what makes C5 in the running for the best out of the series. He's not just rapping on here, he's talking.

"Talent is God-given, be grateful
Fame is not a given, be humble
And conceit is self-driven, drive carefully

Stay in your own lane, seat buckled
And sometimes when there is no music
We toot our own horns, rum-bum-bum-bum
That woman carried the future
And Tunechi was born like, "dun-dun-dun-dun-dun"

Don't call it a comeback
It was dark, now the sun back
Hit me hard, but I punched back

The wheels fell off, I rode the hubcap
Is it suicide or it's do or die?
It's newer days and it's bluer skies

I told myself, "It's just you and I"
Then the breeze came and it blew my mind
Lord knows who I'm there for
I give my last breath of air for
Mama tell me to be careful
Voice in my head give me an earful
But I got mind control over my control
I lost control but knew I'd find control
I let God control what I cannot control
Can't control the tears, let 'em drop and roll"

And when he was rapping just to rap, he was experimenting with mad different flows and styles. Yea man, C5 might be the 2nd best album from the series.

With all of that said, The Drought Series is arguably better than The Carter Series. Plus he got the Sqad Up series, Dedication series, etc.

Is the Carter 4 a bad album or just not up to Wayne standards?

Because I seen some you dudes here so Culture 2 was nice. I seen y’all give Young Thug props. I seen Carbi B get a good rating on “her” album and countless other dudes that have not put out a better album than C4

Yeah I think C4's getting some undeserved hate. I think it was more of a concise album that C5 is. C5 really just seems like Wayne going "well here's the best 23 songs I've got, enjoy!" instead of putting much thought behind it.
