Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” Docuseries(aka The #MeToo Summer Jam Screen series) Trailer

I still don't like that people responded to this series to add pressure.

It's not a good look.

But I guess y'all don't care as long as he's in jail.

Try to not focus on him and think bigger. These people don't care about these victims. This is something else.
This is a problem.

That's the problem with all of this: We were paying attention; it's just that nobody did anything. Not one celeb, musician, journalist or anyone did anything. EVERYBODY knew, including the Cook County DA, but nobody did shit.
I'll even add in agreeing with what you're saying that black people did do something. They took his ass to the police like you said, and the police did nothing. Many years went by, and they went on camera again as former employees and people close to him to speak out against him a second time; and again, the cops cannot do anything. It's not easy seeing a person with younger children and not seeing them engage in a sexual act and turn them in to the police based off suspicion with no evidence more than a porno and a case he already beat. I'm almost wondering what more could the people have done? Taken pictures of him with underage girls but not having sex? Maybe some people feels blacks should violently have attacked him? Many black people (not all) had already been boycotting his shows and albums from like 18 years ago; and then the public outcry died after nothing was done and Ferguson, and Trump, and the 2nd Depression/REcession hit. There just wasn't enough time for Kellz to be on the forefront. Not an excuse, just saying shit was being done, but if the law isn't doing it's job and not buying his albums isn't bringing justice then uhhh; what more could have been done? Would not buying his albums and begging the courts to put him in jail AGAIN work? I don't necessarily blame the parents, since some claimed they didn't know what was happening, but after they found out shouldn't they have kept doing something too? I just don't see this as a fault of BLACK people. On the other hand Many ppl did keep buying his albums and figured underage consent was enough to overlook it.

Problem Tariq seems to have is that he cant distinguish between era's what an active predator is.

All this gatekeeping and defense for a man that is still commiting the same acts over and over again.

Aint like he slipped up once...

Nah this nigga still going strong.

So why bring up dead white men?

Tariq being disingenuous, society turned their backs on JLL just like they did Chuck Berry, it is their fans that keep their memories alive, why Tariq cant see that is beyond me.

Whataboutism is not a valid tool in a debate, in fact it is a sigm that you are in the process of losing said debate.

Strange how you assholes can pick Hyperbole, Strawman etc. out of a line-up tho...

Why is it when we talking about our community niggas be so quick to wana throw what white people doing in the mix? "Well why ain't yall going after...?" Nigga we not the DA or the judge

Too real!

I was talking about the parents/families/friends/whoever of these girls...but yea. They didnt care which is the point I was tryna make earlier. We can't go by what white ppl is doing and what they say is ok.
But the issue is most of us do though

They are saying they was too young or didn't know the depth of atrocities.

I was a kid my damn self

I can say I didn’t understand the scope of it. I always seen young chicks trying to get with older dudes. Like it was natural that a girl wanted a man to take care of her. But now they shit is creepy.
