Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” Docuseries(aka The #MeToo Summer Jam Screen series) Trailer

It does seem suspect when there are others out there that has similar stuff especially those that we just found out about. And how they’re using this R Kelly thing as a proxy for to demonize black men.

Cut this shit out b.

You act like MF get arrested on Monday, Tried on Wednesday, and convicted Friday.

Since you like reference Cosby all the time let's do that. This LATEST shit that got him convicted didn't just happen overnight. Them women came out in 2014/2015, he didn't get convicted til last year.

Stop fuckn acting like that shit all happened in a week.

The documentary last night even laid out the dates. This shit has been going on since 1988 at least.

“Forget Elvis, forget Diddy, forget Russ and Harvey”

If there’s a crime you have info on, by all means, take it through the proper channels

But we not gon hold public trials. And this series is a public trial. We not making any one man the face of some shit that goes on regularly that he hasn’t been convicted of. If you want shit to be a free for all like that, you better be prepared for the consequences

Men been marrying 16 years olds since before our great grandmother’s grandma had titties.

LOL @ this defense strategy.

"So what if he married a 15 year old who he got pregnant? Back in Roman times..."

FOH weirdo

im not interested in bad hot takes from twitter

i at no point thought this was an all out attack on black men, but rather THIS particular black man
Any other time you know how to read between the lines and see certain things but right now you’re on your bird box shit.

absolutely not

people are choosing to give some of the weakest opinions the most attention

again, as a black man, i do not, in any shape or form feel attacked

how is this documentary an attack on ANYONE other than the people directly involved in it

The harsh truth is most folks older than me who lives around the time as a young adult in the early 90s, 80s etc men and women, alot of them thought it was a badge of honor to "redshirt" or to sleep with kids. That's why Keith Sweat , R Kelly, etc all made songs about that shit because it was socially a rebel thing to do back then. Thats why the legal age of consent back then was so lower what it was now. I made a thread about this shit on the IC.

I ALWAYS been on record saying that this shit was weird, even with Kylie Jenner and shit. I don't get how niggas lust over her, she is clearly a enhanced kid still to me and after all that creepy Tyga redshirting shit and how the internet treated her and likes of Cash me Outside girl and Milu Truijuah (some random dancing chick from the musicaly app) it's clear that some folks are into younger people.

IMO the whole redshirting shit should not be exccluded if we keeping it buck, so let's go all the way out there with this shit. There is a cultural shift for the better to get social norms in a better place, but this selective outrage shit is annoying man. Kelly should have been in jail, but if we are at it, I don't wanna see nobody twerking to Taste by Tyga, or calling Keith Sweat the king of RnB.

So let me ask you a question. Did this seem suspect when Sparkle brought it to him in the 90's? What about when his muic teacher tried to intervene? Was it suspect then? Was it suspect when he said he wanted to marry his mother? What about when he was pissing in little girls mouths? Was it suspect when he was camping out at McDonalds waiting for little girls to get out of school? was it suspect when he was making music about his sexual encounters with little girls? Was it suspect when the nigga was on trial for his accusations?

I'm asking you this because everything that I just laid out happened over the course of the last 30 years. Why are you all of a sudden thinking that it is suspect? Is it because now his actions are finally being put on public display for more people to see? That is suspect my nigga? Really?
He was called out for his pedophilia. Charges were filed he had his day in court he should've been locked up but he wasn’t due to a technicality. So what’s the point of this documentary again? If his victims want to speak out then they’re more than willing to and I won’t say anything, we have all these NEW cases by men that weren’t tried yet but we’re skipping past them to go back to R Kelly? That’s suspect.

nobody gave Tyga a pass...hell, he got it pretty bad when it was happening live

He settled out of court and files were sealed. They retried him and unsealed documents that were supposed to remain sealed. They allowed people on the jury that publically said that Cosby was guilty before the trial even began, broke all kinds of constitutional laws and had no evidence except an accusation. But you’re right...

So you're saying that black women have been making up shit about R. Kelly for 30 years just so they can secretly demonize black men?
When did I say that black women are making anything up? I said that he’s a pedo and deserves to be in jail, but I’m not going to ignore what’s going on behind this as well..

This thread is mind boggling.

White supremacy fucked so many nigga's heads up that some of yall defending a pedophile.

I agree with @5th Letter and @DOS_patos that sometimes there is a bigger game at play when it comes to the systematic destruction of the image of the black man.

Nonetheless this isn't it though, Robert Kelly is a pedophile.

It's that simple.

Just cause Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein aren't locked up yet, that doesn't mean we should give a pass to Kelly.

no man...do you know how long this was in production? I dont

you know how long it took them to gather all these people up and for them to tell their stories? I dont

do you know long it took to "shop it" to an outlet, market it, etc... i dont

this not a youtube doc that was made in a weekend brah

this has probably been in the works for a min. You might not be comfortable with the timing of it, but that doesnt lessen the message the survivors are trying to convey

Nigga R. Kelly was held accountable. He was tried in a court of law. He's been sued. He's even been blackballed from shows lately. This is the problem with you changing to subject to include other people beside R. Kelly. This is about R. Kelly and not the whole community.

Also I want to address what you said about the door flying open while he was fucking Aaliyah. Let me remind you that she was a whole 15 years old at the time and the only other witnesses on that bus were all teenage girls and his manager and security who were complicit in his crimes. So what you're really saying is it should be the responsibility of these abused little girls to take this nigga down and that's not fair of you to say. That marriage license was forged and the whole marriage was a sham. He got Aaliyah pregnant.

And my last point is to address the last line you wrote when you said all adults failed her. Keep in mind that this isn't just about Aaliyah. She is his most notable victim but she wasn't the first or the last. He has ruined the lives of many young girls. All of them were failed. Make sure you include them to. This wasn't an isolated incident.
See...you just trying to be right....
Don't take one if my posts and act like I'm forgetting everyone else.
I been said this was a bigger issue.
And it don't matter if the others were teens, why didn't they feel ok enough to tell someone?

There is a reason.
I'm all about accountability....do don't take me making a point about situation as me not including others. So a door coming open ...no adults around? So he on tour with all teens? Who failed them?

And this is about rkelly and the whole community...niggas kill over colors but ain't kill bruh hanging outside high schools looking for prey?

How long after forged documents was found out that she was not allowed to be around Kelly? And once he was found out how the other girls get to be around him?

Bruh...ain't no one protecting these kids from dude because money talked.

Hold him for what he did..but hold them parents and those silent too.

Shit crazy because the a lot of the rest of the world still be having these old ass men with these young ladies.

Forcing them to marry and shit.

It don’t matter bruh, I never even mentioned anything about the timing of this documentary. Just pointing out certain things that seems suspect to me.
