OUT NOW Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign - Vultures 1

He made great music with those soulful beats and changed the landscape of hip hop at the time... The whole 'College Dropout' movement was huge, talking about insecurities and self consciousness etc

I still bang this all the time...

Yeah but see, I never cared for that backpack shit.

I liked The Clipse.

And all the insecurities Kanye was rapping about was himself because he wasn't put on yet. When he got put on, he was like any other rapper, even more flamboyant and outspoken.

To me, College Dropout and Late Graduation and shit like that was about a nerdy, bookish, beat nerd and his insecurities being around the cool kids with the cars, jewelry and the fame he wants.

Other people took it as him being "conscious" or whatever or him being different than other rappers.

I was like, "Nah, he playing y'all, he wants that shit and when he gets it, he gonna be worse than them."

Lol. I like narcissistic, I Am a God, Kanye.

He admitted all this in multiple songs like All Falls Down and Diamonds. Granted it went over most heads, but it's not like he was trying to be Talib Kweli. Again, the first time I heard his voice he said "got a light skinned friend look like Michael Jackson". I'm not expecting any deep social commentary from him.

I like most sub genres of hip hop, JMT, Immortal Tech, Mos to Clipse, 50, Dipset and D Block etc but I also fckd with early Kanye too... Also I never saw Kanye as a conscious rapper either, which made him more dope and genre to himself really...

And Kanye always said he wanted to ball (but it can also be a sign of insecurity too)...

'But I aint even gone act holier than thou
Cause fuck it, I went to Jacob with 25 thou
Before I had a house and I'd do it again
Cause I wanna be on 106 & Park, pushin a Benz'

His beats were FIRE its what made 'Blueprint' and the tracks he produced at time EXTRA dope...

I just dont like all the effects on his vocals and the beats on the post 2008 Kanye, theres few good tracks and he had some good features but not enough for me to say I fckd with his projects...

Early Kanye was just a "Pre-Baller" Rapper.

I liked some of his beats back then, but I really just fucked with Neptunes and Timbaland.

I liked the futuristic sounding shit, I wish Jay Z did a whole album with Neputunes and Timbo.

Hip Hop was way more interesting in the early internet days but shit I was a full ass grown adult, I couldn't really relate to Early Kanye. If you were in college when Kanye dropped, that was your whole life.
