It's not that black ppl didn't care,it's that some black ppl were sitting around saying "yeah Ye is on that genius shit,slavery was a choice and our ancestors were all suckers for not dying fighting to get free or jumping off the ships,even if they were chained up"

You're right. Care was the wrong word choice on my part. It definitely was those defending him and saying anybody critiquing him didn't see his "bigger picture".
